Unit 4 Crime and Punishment-EXAM UNIT (New Spec) WHOLE UNIT BUNDLE

11 Resources
This is a bundle of all the teaching resources you would need for the teaching and learning of Unit 4 Crime and Punishment (the externally examined unit). The resources provided are for Level 3 students studying Criminology (Eduqas/WJEC spec). Each lesson contains a mixture of engaging tasks. The activities vary from case studies, scaffolding sheets, link to theorists, exam questions, homework and many other things. I always do an introduction lesson for each unit and I find that this really helps to “set the scene” for what the students are about to learn. I have included these resources in the bundle. Given the current nature of students learning from home, I have also created a STUDENT REVISION PACK that my students have found really useful. I have set them deadlines for each section so I can see that they are learning and revising from home. I have also set them exam questions and they have taken pictures of their timed essays and emailed them into me. Feel free to message me with any questions as I know that this is a new course! I am now known as the Criminology Guru at my college so I am happy to help. I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions also. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk

RRO87RRO87

Criminology (NEW SPEC)Unit 2 EXAM UNIT- Criminological Theories-AC4.1 Lesson & Activities

(1)
The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 4: LO 4: Understand causes of policy change AC4.1 Assess the use of Criminological Theories in Informing Policy Development This section considers how theories (already covered earlier in the unit) can help to reduce crime. For example, the idea that CBT/pyschoanalysis can help someone overcome long-term trauma or abuse. If long-term trauma or abuse is not dealt with this can often lead to aggression /anger issues and can in some instances sadly result in criminality. This section of the exam therefore explores a variety of those theories (from diet to token economy etc). I have included a number of activities to help keep students engaged e.g. eat well plate, case studies, examples of crime prevention policies and exam questions linked to this section.

Taster Session/Induction in Health and Social Care- Lesson and worksheets (Care Values)

(1)
These resources contain a lesson power point and activity work sheets. This lesson serves as an induction for students who are thinking about (or have already chosen) BTEC Health and Social Care. It gives students a taste of how lessons are broken down into pass, merit and distinction criteria. This lesson would be either an ideal 'induction lesson' or a 'first lesson introduction' in September for new starters. This is why I have chosen the 'Care Values' topic as this is a core basis for anyone who wants to learn more about Health and Social Care.

These resources include a work booklet for the student and a power point presentation for the teacher. The resources are aimed at low ability/Level 1 students. I created these resources for an NCFE Level 1 qualification but they are also ideal for awareness lessons. I would recommend this lesson as a full day teaching depending on ability level. Lesson Objectives cover: 1.1 Define person-centred support 1.2 Outline the importance of finding out an individual’s history, needs wishes, likes and dislikes 1.3 Give examples of how to provide person-centred support when supporting individuals in day-to-day activities 2.1 Outline the benefits to an individual of person-centred support 2.2 Give examples of how individuals can be in control of their care needs 2.3 Outline how assessing risk can assist person-centred support

The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 2: Understand how campaigns are used to elicit change AC.2.2:Evaluate the Effectiveness of Media Used in Campaigns for Change. The resources consist of a lesson to demonstrate the effectiveness of the media in relevant campaigns for change. The booklet allows students to interact with the lesson but it also means that the students have something to help them write up an answer in the controlled assessment time constraints. There is also a worksheet for students to complete so that they can come up with some of their own media comparisons.

The Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. They cover: Learning Outcome 2: Understand how campaigns are used to elicit change  AC2.1: Compare campaigns for change The exam board expect students to compare a minimum of at least 5 campaigns for change. Here I have covered 4 campaigns for change which act as good models to set students up with their own research. There is an activity sheet (I printed this out in poster format so that students could fill it in as we went through the campaigns in lesson) that details how to tackle each campaign. It is important to note that students must break down each campaign by discussing: What it was about/what started it The purpose of the campaign Whether or not it was successful What other campaigns it can be linked to

Criminology (New Spec) UNIT 3 Crime Scene to Court Room WHOLE UNIT BUNDLE

11 Resources
This is a bundle of all the teaching resources you would need for the teaching and learning of Unit 3 Crime Scene to Courtroom (the controlled assessment) of the Level 3 course. The resources provided are for Level 3 students studying Criminology (Eduqas/WJEC spec). Each lesson contains a power point and booklet for students to write in. I personally, use the booklets to keep track and ensure that students are doing what they should be. As you can’t mark student work until the end of the controlled assessment period- this really has helped me to track student progress. I get students to hand in their booklets after I have finished teaching each assignment criteria. This ensures that they are doing their independent research outside of lesson. I have based these resources/lessons on the Gareth Hughes Assignment Brief (all the exam material provided by the exam board is FREE on the Eduqas website). I have made links to this assignment brief throughout as practice so that students then know how to apply each section when they are doing the formal controlled assessment (with a brief that they haven’t yet seen). The resources provide you with booklets, answer plans, activities and much more to teach the whole of Unit 3 with. If you are teaching this for half the year, this provides you with effectively 6 months of teaching resources and it works out cheaper to buy the bundle rather than paying for each lesson individually. Feel free to message me with any questions as I know that this is a new course! I am now known as the Criminology Guru at my college so I am happy to help. I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions for Unit 3 and Unit 4 if you are unsure about anything. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk

Unit 1 Changing Awareness of Crime Learning Outcome 1: Understand how crime reporting affects the public perception of criminality Assessment Criteria 1.4: Media Representation of Crime The lessons includes the following LO: Identify the different forms of media that report crime(E-C) Grade) Explain a variety of methods that the media use to represent crime (C-B Grade) Describe media representations of crime using examples to support your points (B-A Grade) Please find attached Level 3 resources for the new specification of Criminology. These resources have been created for post-16 students who are studying the Applied Certificate and Diploma in Criminology. They are suitable for both WJEC and Eduqas exam boards. The resources attached include both a teacher power point presentation and a student activity booklet. This means that students can follow the lesson easily and the assessment criteria which they are completing is clear. I have designed these booklets so that students feel more guided when it comes to the formal controlled assessment. They can follow the subject material and extend their own learning through the key term homeworks and case studies. The student booklet includes: missing word activity/ written tasks/ similar & different media observation tasks/homework. I have linked the lessons to the “Mr and Mrs S” Exam Board Assignment Brief but you can tailor the lessons to any brief that you have selected for your students. Remember that students must acknowledge the assignment brief but not make it all about the assignment brief. They must focus on meeting the assessment criteria set out by the exam board. Enjoy!

These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. I have included an exam question and homework tasks. Feel free to message me with any questions as I know that this is a new course! I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. My specialism is Law and Criminology so I also welcome any Law related questions. rachael.s.roberts@hotmail.co.uk I will be putting more resources up for this unit.

These Criminology resources are aimed at Level 3 students. Learning Outcome 1: Understanding the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales Assignment Criteria 1.2: Describe the Organisation of the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales I have included a power point that illustrates the relationships between the main agencies within the CJS. I have set this out in mind map format so that students can make the ‘relationship connections’ in a fun way. They can either create their own or use the templates I have provided. I have modelled four of the agencies to demonstrate what they need to do. I have told my students that they need a mind map/flow chart for each agency as an exam question could come up on any one of them. I have also included homework tasks and exam questions. Feel free to message me with any questions as I know that this is a new course! I hope you find these resources helpful- particularly if you are new to teaching Criminology. Attached are a variety of teaching resources that helped me to assist students with their chosen campaign for change. I found that lower ability students really found the plan useful as a scaffolding device to help them set out their own campaign. I have also included the instructions i gave students on putting together their bibliography as some had never written one before. Some students used the person template to design their own t-shirts and wrist bands etc.

The booklet can be used in lesson and then the student can use it to equip them when writing up their controlled assessment. I tend to send the booklet power point to reprographics and they staple it into a booklet format for me :)

Citizenship (GCSE) Theme B: Democracy in the UK. Topic 7: Devolution

This lesson covers everything required to understand Devolution at GCSE level. I have included examples so students can understand the way in which it works. Included in the power point is a past exam question and a structure to help students answer the source style questions. The exam questions can all be found on the exam board web-site but I have included one on here for free as it fits with the lesson and help structure. I have also included a quick reference sheet which can be found on the gov. website but again I have included on here for ease. Hope this helps.
