There are two pelmanism-style matching games in this PowerPoint - one with animal vocabulary, and the other family vocabulary. The games can be used in two ways. By clicking the show/hide buttons, all the pairs of French and English words are displayed This screen can then be used as a classroom matching exercise when pupils are first learning the vocabulary. Once they are sure of the words and their meaning, they can play the memory game. The numbers on the front reveal French and English words when clicked. If matching pairs are discovered, they are left showing. If not, clicking the words brings back the numbers. A fun starter or plenary activity for KS2/3.

Pupils have difficulty with the pronunciation of numbers because there are so many ways of pronouncing them, depending on whether they are used on their own, before a consonant or before a vowel. This resource aims to help. A no-frills PDF shows the different ways they can be pronounced, and a sound file gives a demonstration. The second sound file shows how avoir and être are pronounced.
