Drama - Duologues mini scheme. 5 original duologues and full lesson powerpoint

(0)
Here I have a lesson/mini scheme on duologues. This is a great way for students to pair up and study a script together. You may wish to have groups of three, with one student acting as director for the other two. There are five duologues for students to perform (so one can be done per lesson or you can give different groups different duologues, it's up to you). There is also a lesson powerpoint to coach students through preparing for, annotating, performing and evaluating their work. The duologues are my own creation and cover a variety of different themes and ideas. They have been deliberately crafted in order to present complex characters which challenge the performer to demonstrate a wide range of emotions. They are also relatively short, meaning your students shouldn't have too much bother learning lines. Most can be performed by either gender. They have worked incredibly well with my groups and I'm glad I introduced these lessons early in year 10. Little/no adaptation is required. DNA GCSE Revision and Study Guide.

This is a 38 page, fully loaded revision, study and comprehension resource for Dennis Kelly’s ‘DNA’. This has been written with the latest AQA (9-1) English Literature specification in mind, but I’m sure this would work equally well with other exam boards. This would also be ideal for drama specifications too. I’ve tried to make this revision guide as active as possible, so there are lots of activities and tasks for students to do as they work through the booklet. There’s a good balance of information and engaging tasks for students to work through. Contents of this guide run as follows: * Visual summary of plot * Storyboard resource for students to then recall the plot and key events from memory *Form and structure comprehension questions *Settings questions * Context (students explore key issues raised in the play such as youth stereotypes, gang culture, growing violence in the age of the internet etc) * Symbols and Motifs - lots of information about symbols and motifs in the play, followed by a revision activity * Key Quotes - Students explore key quotes through analysis of their meaning and significance, quotes are broken down chapter by chapter and provide thematic links etc. * Themes - Students make connections between themes, characters and events in the novel * Characterisation - Students have to complete a character profile for all the main characters using the study tasks provided * Key Terminology - Exploring some key terminology and vocabulary that will deepen their understanding of the play as well as impress examiners. * Exam question - a series of exam questions worded and structured in the same way you will expect to find them on the new 9-1 literature paper *Exam Techniques - Hints and tips on how to maximise performance in the exam. Ideal for all teachers as this is a new set text to be added to the specification. Definitely a grade saving resource that enables students to fully prepare for the exam and to explore the text from lots of different angles. Ready to roll, everything a student needs to revise for the exam and boost their confidence in the run up to the exam. Little/no adaptation required. Suitable for a range of abilities. Enjoy! OCR GCSE Drama Concept Pro-Forma Guidance Booklet

OCR GCSE Drama Concept Pro-Forma Guidance Booklet

(6)
Here is a detailed guidance booklet for the OCR 'Presenting and Performing Texts' unit of the GCSE Drama qualification. Having recently had the examiner visit our school for this unit (former chief examiner David Cross I might add!) it was mentioned that the centre's concept pro-formas were particularly strong and effective. I have further updated and improved this booklet based on his feedback, so you can be sure that this has exactly what your visiting examiner will be looking for! This booklet covers all the questions on the concept pro-forma individually. For each question: * Students are given a breakdown of what the question is asking them to do, along with detailed guidance on how best to tackle the question * Top Tips for each question, along with suggested activities they can do to help them successfully prepare for the questions * Detailed exemplars (in this booklet I use DNA as the exemplar text) for each and every question in order to model strong responses. This is everything your students need to successfully tackle the pro-forma and to make the best possible impression with the visiting examiner! Buy in confidence from a TES recommended gold author!

Here is the random drama improvisation generator! Who knows which direction your drama lesson will take this time!? 170 varied and exciting improvisation and devising scenarios that your students will love. The generator is a bank of 170 stimulus items/scenarios which can be selected completely at random simply by clicking on one of the coloured buttons on the menu slide. Don’t like the scenario? Simply click the ‘back’ button and try again! Students absolutely LOVE the generator, it promotes intrigue, curiosity and most of all creativity in your drama lessons. You may wish to use the generator to create a short scene as a starter, or dedicate a whole lesson to a more developed improvisation piece. The ability to devise and improvise is an essential bedrock upon which practically all other drama skills are based. Therefore, training your students to respond to a range of random stimulus items is a sure fire way to make them stronger performers and students of drama generally. This is ideal to use across all key stages and is a useful follow on to the ‘Complete Introduction to Drama’ unit available here I have also used the generator to prepare students for the GCSE ‘Devising Drama’ unit for OCR. Blood Brothers GCSE Revision and Study Guide.

This is a 31 page, fully loaded revision, study and comprehension resource for Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers. This has been written with the latest AQA (9-1) English Literature specification in mind, but I’m sure this would work equally well with other exam boards and would also work nicely with the drama specifications such as OCR (I’ve thrown in an OCR GCSE revision mat to accompany the guide so that it works for drama too). I’ve tried to make this revision guide as active as possible, so there are lots of activities and tasks for students to do as they work through the booklet. There’s a good balance of information and engaging tasks for students to work through. Contents run as follows: * Visual summary of plot * Storyboard resource for students to then recall the plot and key events from memory * Exploring the form and structure of the play * Context (students explore key contextual issues and make connections between events from history and events in the play) * Key Quotes - Students explore key quotes through analysis of their meaning and significance, quotes are broken down act by act * Themes - Students make connections between themes, characters and events in the play * Characterisation - Students have to complete a character profile for all the main characters using the study tasks provided * Key Terminology - Exploring some key terminology and vocabulary that will deepen their conceptual understanding of the play as well as impress examiners. * Exam questions - 5 exam questions worded and structured in the same way you will expect to find them on the new 9-1 literature paper *Exam Techniques - Hints and tips on how to maximise performance in the exam. Ideal for all teachers as there are very few past papers for the new specification; this covers all the assessment objectives they will need to cover. Definitely a grade saving resource that enables students to fully prepare for the exam. Ready to roll, everything a student needs to revise for the exam and boost their confidence in the run up to the exam. Little/no adaptation required. Suitable for a range of abilities. Drama - Monologues mini scheme. 6 original monologues and full lesson powerpoint

Here I have a lesson/mini scheme on monologues. Though considered a necessary evil by many, I think they are a great way for students to break through the 'wall' in terms of lacking confidence and conviction. Once they have successfully completed a monologue, they should find that any issues around nerves and confidence are much improved. There are six monologues for students to perform (so each can be done over six lesson or you can give different groups different monologues, it's up to you). There is also a lesson powerpoint to coach students through preparing for, performing and evaluating their monologues. The monologues are my own creation and cover a variety of different themes and ideas. Devising Drama/ devising from a stimulus drama workbook/mini unit

Hello! Here I have a workbook for devising a piece of drama from a stimulus. This would be ideal as both a 'dry run' for the OCR GCSE new specification 'devising drama' unit, or for a standalone unit at key stage 3. In the booklet, students will: - Respond to a stimulus image - Come up with a range of concepts in relation to the image - Storyboard their main idea - Create character profiles for major characters - Write a portion of a script for the performance - Evaluating rehearsals -Evaluating performances -Engaging in a range of design work activities (such as set and costume designs) Has proved popular with studnets (fun) and staff (low maintenance) Feedback welcomed and appreciated!

GCSE Drama - Blood Brothers exam, revision and guidance for new 9-1 OCR examination

(0)
Here I have a short exam unit which is basically a mock exam for the Drama: Performance and response exam unit for the new OCR Drama GCSE, alongside a revision mat/knowledge organiser. I have used the specimen paper that is on the OCR website to ensure that the structure and outline of this paper is correct (although the questions on this one are obviously different, so you can use both as mocks). For each question, there are tips and guidance about how best to tackle the question to gain maximum marks, using language from the mark scheme to help students understand what is required of them for each question. For revision, I've also included a GCSE revision mat, explaining each of the study areas along with suggested tasks to support further study and revision at home. Hopefully this will be useful as we all embark on the uncharted territory that is the new Drama exam! I've found that my students have really appreciated the opportunity to have the questions, and the style of response required, explained to them in this manner. Drama group role cards. Ideal for KS3 and 4. Great differentiation strategy.

(0)
I was finding that in many of my drama groups, certain students would inevitably end up fulfilling the same roles within their groups. For example, there would always be a natural leader emerge who would boss everyone around, and others who were happy to be passengers. This handy little resource shakes things up a bit and makes sure that all members of the group are fully involved and invested in the devising process. It's also a great differentiation strategy in mixed ability groups as you can group students and define roles based on your preferences/rationale. When I was observed for my appraisal, the cards allowed me to show that I had challenged students to step outside of their comfort zone and explore a role they had not previously fulfilled within a group. It's amazing what the students can do when you set them a challenge! These are great to get laminated and you can fill the names in with a whiteboard marker. They can equally just be printed out and written on normally. If you make a purchase and find the resource useful, why not get another one absolutely free?
