Hi! I currently work in London as an Assistant Headteacher. I love all things teaching and learning! I am extremely passionate about education and find researching and creating new strategies and ideas exciting. The world of teaching and leading in England is highly stressful and it's up to all of us to look after each other's well-being...I hope my resources save you some precious time.

Fun and Thought-Provoking Mental Well-Being Booklet full of activities

(1)
Good mental well-being has become harder to maintain as life becomes increasingly hectic. That's why it must be our priority to help pupils to understand their own mental well-being and know how to improve it. This great 12 page booklet is full of activities aimed at supporting pupils to improve and maintain a healthy mental well-being. Activities range from thinking about what makes them happy to designing their own happy place to setting goals to thinking about how helping others can lead to being a happier person. The activities are suitable to support a 9 week programme on mental well-being, which should become a priority in every curriculum. Any questions, please just ask.

Personal Statement for Assistant Headteacher for Teaching, Learning and Curriculum FOR ADULTS

Personal Statement for Assistant Headteacher for Teaching, Learning and Curriculum FOR ADULTS

(10)
This is my own personal statement for the position of Assistant Headteacher for Teaching, Learning and Curriculum - a job which I got. Being able to download someone else’s personal statement while writing mine, would have been a huge help. Therefore, I thought offering mine, would give practitioners an option to view one before they start writing their own and thus having new ideas and a clear structure. Obviously, every personal statement should be tailored to the person specification but it is easy to use ideas from this personal statement and shuffle them around accordingly. I have removed specific names from the personal statement and instead typed, XXX.

Promoting SMSC - British Values - informative assembly and guidance on running a British Values Day

(2)
I recently ran a very successful British Values Day. I began the day by inviting parents/carers/governors in and delivered the attached assembly presentation to them as well as to pupils. I then gave each class a value of their own (see guidance). Classes were able to be as creative as they liked but were asked to give me one outstanding piece of display work so I could create a British Values display at the entrance of the school (see photo of display). Pupils dressed-up in their cultural clothes or wore red/blue/white and all brought in a 'gold coin donation' to give to charity. The assembly goes through each of the British Values and their meanings. There is a song and video clip attached as well as a short quiz at the end. Promoting British Values is extremely important, Ofsted say: 'Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and, within this, the promotion of fundamental British values, are at the heart of the school’s work.' Powerpoint could also be used for a KS2 lesson on British Values. If you have any questions or need any support, send me a message and I'll do anything I can to help. Please do review any resources that you download - many thanks!

Slow Writing Strategy - presentation for staff and resources for pupils year 1 - 6

(3)
I am a fan of the slow writing technique by David Didau, www.learningspy.co.uk Here is a presentation on slow writing, which I created for a staff meeting. It goes through: -what slow writing is -how slow writing is beneficial -an example of slow writing -two activities for staff to complete -how teachers can experiment and take the research further I have also created two examples of objectives slow writing for every year group (year 1 - 6) based on the current national curriculum. These can be used straight away in class or can easily be adapted to suit individual classes/pupils. I spend a great deal of time making resources and hope they save you time! Any questions, amendment suggestions or feedback are always greatly received. Thank you!

Exciting learning journey - create a leaflet on a famous person who inspires you

A great and exciting week long project, which enables pupils to create a fantastic leaflet and meet lots of objectives along the way. Created for primary but can easily be adapted for early secondary. Powerpoint follows the sequence: -Discuss who inspires the children and why -Set homework for pupils to research their chosen person or can be done in class. -Show model on Malala and discuss writing features. -Show children blank version and give them an opportunity to talk before writing. -Look at objectives together – how will pupils meet these? -Children create their leaflet. If there's time, they should self or peer-assess the leaflet and publish a final version. Other resources include: -Blank leaflet template -Model leaflet based on Malala Yousafzai - www.malala.org/malalas-story -An activity for EAL or LA attainers after they have heard the story of Malala -Blank planning sheet and model planning sheet If you do have any questions or need any support, please send me a message. *My resources always take me a lot of time and effort to create so I hope that they help to save you some precious time - please do review my resources.
