This is a five lesson Symmetry unit of work for Year 4. Extension activity involves the children investigating symmetry in the alphabet. Lesson 3 involves the children identifying and drawing lines of symmetry into patterns/designs. The challenge activity: identifying a reflected pattern. Lesson 4 involves the children completing symmetrical figures by reflecting across a mirror-line. The challenge activity: Complete a symmetrical figure on various different types of grids and questions for deeper understanding. Lesson 5 involves the children completing symmetrical patterns by reflecting across a mirror-line. The challenge activity: Questions to encourage deeper thinking - solving symmetry problems. Here are 10 weekly 5 minute maths quizzes for Year 6. There are 6 questions on each quiz and each quiz can be randomised so that they are never the same. These have been designed to revise topics so that long-term memories are formed over time and are a perfect pairing for my year 6 arithmetic workouts.
