This is a five lesson Symmetry unit of work for Year 4. In this resource pack you will find: Lesson plans (including for your TA), differentiated worksheets/activities (LA, MA and HA plus a challenge activity for deeper understanding/mastery), two mini assessments, answer sheets for all activities and flipcharts for whole class teaching (in ActivInspire, PowerPoint and PDF format). This pack will save you hours and hours of planning, resourcing, differentiating, finding challenging activities, making assessments and generating flipcharts all for an amazing price. In addition, resources are uploaded in both PDF and Word format so that they can be edited to suit your needs. NOTE: Just used this unit myself, and all but 1 child in my class exceeded the objectives! Lesson 1 involves the children identifying whether a line of symmetry is correct or incorrect and then challenged by drawing in the correct or missing lines. Lesson 2 involves the children drawing all of the lines of symmetry on to 2D shapes including complex polygons as well as regular shapes. Extension activity involves the children investigating symmetry in the alphabet. Lesson 3 involves the children identifying and drawing lines of symmetry into patterns/designs. The challenge activity: identifying a reflected pattern. Lesson 4 involves the children completing symmetrical figures by reflecting across a mirror-line. The challenge activity: Complete a symmetrical figure on various different types of grids and questions for deeper understanding. Lesson 5 involves the children completing symmetrical patterns by reflecting across a mirror-line. The challenge activity: Questions to encourage deeper thinking - solving symmetry problems. ALSO INCLUDED: Two mini-assessments for the two learning objectives. This is a COMPLETE resource pack (up to 10 lessons) for teaching all Year 3 Statistics objectives.
