Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Back to School Maths Activities BUNDLE (Year 6 / P7)

Easy to prepare Key Stage 2 Maths games and activities, ideal for the first week back at school with a new class or to stock up your maths shelf for use throughout the year. As a revision and consolidation pack, this best suits Year 6 (P7 and other equivalents), although the resources would suit some younger classes / groups if all included concepts have been covered. After the holidays, before teaching any new aspects of maths, you can get pupils improving their mental agility with these fun Crossnumber puzzles (featuring addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, decimals). You can have them work on those times tables they've forgotten over the summer with these Four in a Row games. Plus you can have them work independently or collaboratively on these mostly multi-step Word Problems challenge cards - a key area to come back to over and over again to ensure pupils can use the four operations in context. Please click on the resources to see previews and more detailed information about each one. I hope this bundle saves you time and helps to get your pupils off to a flying start without you having to do a whole load of planning in the first few days. If you can spare a moment I would be grateful for any reviews. Many thanks. Measurement homework.

Measurement homework.

Editable measurement homework. Use a ruler, weighing scales, a measuring jug/cups to find the answers to these questions. Some of the answers will be printed on the products. If you don’t have any scales, try to estimate the weight. If you don’t have a measuring jug, use a milk bottle, (which will hold a litre), and try to work it out).

Area and Volume in a Rainbow Task

Area and Volume in a Rainbow Task

I made this task for a year 8 group as a one off lesson to incorporate different skills such as area of a circle, volume and unit conversion. We have area and volume as 'power standards' so we test the students on these topics all year, this was a task I designed for a one off lesson instead of giving them worksheets on volume. It can be modified and scaffolded to suit.

Exploding Ratio

Exploding Ratio

This aims, through four separate, increasingly difficult sheets, to give students a chance to show that they can share in a given ratio as well as simplify ratios. I have used different units and specified units to be used in most cases meaning that students must convert. Hopefully this will allow students to demonstrate their understanding of the topic and will encourage discussion.

Year 3 and 4 Complete Maths Board Game

Includes: Board 29x30cm A4x2 Fractions 60 Question cards Measurement 60 Question cards Word Problems 70 Question cards Mental Maths 80 Question cards Coloured tokens to collect Excellent for a fun way to revise these important areas of maths and mathematical vocabulary. The aim of the game is to collect 4 different coloured tokens by answering questions correctly and then get back to the middle of the board. The winner is the first person back to the middle with 1 of each coloured token. How to Play the short version 15-30minutes 2-4players 1. All players start in the middle of the board. Each player roles the die, the player with the highest number on their die goes first. 2. Players take it in turns to role the die and move to a tile. Then the player must pick a card that is the same colour as the tile they are on and answer the question. If they answer correctly they receive a token matching the colour of the tile. Then they must aim to land on different coloured tiles to collect the other coloured tokens. 3. If a player lands on the tile with a die on it they immediately get another role of the die. 4. Once a player has collected 1 of each coloured token they must get back to the centre of the board to win the game. How to Play the Longer Version 30-60minutes 2-4players 1. All players start in the middle of the board. Each player roles the die, the player with the highest number on their die goes first. 2. Players take it in turns to role the die and move to a tile. Then they take a card with the matching colour and answer the question. If they answer correctly they can stay there but if they answer incorrectly they must move back to their previous position. 3. If a player lands on the tile with a die on it they immediately get another role of the die. 4. When a player lands on the larger tiles in the corners of the board they must answer a question just like on other tiles however if they are correct they receive a matching coloured token. Once a player has collected all 4 coloured tokens (1 from each corner of the board) they must return to the centre of the board to win the game! Other Ways to Use the Cards! With 270 question cards there are many ways you could use them without the board! If you have lessons focusing on Fractions (Red), Measurements (Green), Word Problems (Yellow) or Mental Maths (Blue) you can use only the specific set of cards for students to solve in groups, pairs or individually for morning activities, lesson starters, main activity or extensions. With so many flexible options this bundle you will love it!
