This is a mock paper i created especially for the NCFE Level 2 Technical Award. With the limitations on resources available, this paper focuses on what students learnt in Unit 1 Starting a Business or Enterprise. In particular Learning outcome 1, ‘Understanding how businesses and enterprises are started’ and parts of learning outcome 2, ‘Understanding what should be included in a business plan’. Business aims and objectives Business legal structures Business stakeholders Entrepreneurial characteristics and Skills The sections of a business plan. I have also included a mark sheet with possible answers I tried to match this paper as close to what NCFE would produce and so giving students extra opportunities to make progress.

These slides and hand out are designed to support the delivery of the Component Three topic of business and the environment. They explore the various aspects of the environment that business activity have an impact upon and consider different forms of government intervention, the role of pressure groups and the impact of changing business activity as a result of a more informed and education consumer. Specifically the slides focus upon air, water and noise pollution, waste management, the destruction of the environment, climate change and congestion before examining forms of intervention including Green Taxes such as the Congestion Charge, Land Fill Tax and the promotion of alternative sources of energy, before concluding with an evaluation of how the environment has impacted upon business behaviour. This game is designed to help KS4 or KS5 students get their heads around the topic of business finance in a fun way. Its set within the context of a summer music festival and students need to run their own business stalls, showing problem solving, teamwork and leadership skills. Topics covered are cashflow, revenue, costs and profit, however it would be really easy to tag other concepts such as promotion onto the activity as well. Teachers can have even more fun with it by decorating the classroom with a festival vibe and play some Glastonbury footage during the exercise…have fun!

The lesson is a trading game based around the topics of factors of supply and demand. The students work in groups buying and selling batches of fictional Teddy Bears. As different things occur the price for raw materials changes as does the selling price of the Teddy Bears. At the end of the lesson I do a small debrief with the students looking at the factors affecting the supply and demand for products. Very interactive lesson that engages students from the off.
