Echo Express 1 Module 4 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

Echo Express 1 Module 4 Vocabulary Matching Exercises

These simple yet versatile matching exercises are made from the vocabulary used in module 4 of Echo Express 1. They can be used as starters, extensions, plenaries, homework and revision. They are also great for measuring progress when used as a starter and a plenary in the same lesson. They can also be colour-coded / traffic lighted to provide instant feedback as well as a focus for assessment revision. I always let pupils choose whether they want to write the answers in in English or the Target Language. Matching with lines never works! I have had great feedback from pupils when using them and hope you will too. Please let me know if you find typos / mistakes.

Speaking cards - Hobbys & Relationships

Speaking cards - Hobbys & Relationships

To promote spontaneous speaking, I have trialed pair-work questioning with my students. I copy the attached file onto different coloured card and then cut out. I put them into piles face down. The idea is for students to work in pairs, taking in turn to take a card from the pile and ask their partner the question on it. This is good for comprehension practice and also allowing students to build their confidence when speaking.

A resource to enable students to massively improve and detail their opinions. All of the examples in this pack are on the topic of sports, but it could easily be adapted to other topics. There are 8 pages of structures at the end of the powerpoint and as a PDF which could be printed as an A4/A3 page, laminated for tables, or using the different version converted into a mini-book for students reference. The powerpoint includes many slides for explaining the use of the structures followed by some sentences to translate into English using the other pages for support.
