Support for schools and trusts

At Tes Institute, we understand the unique training and development challenges and opportunities that school and trust leaders face every day. We know that brilliant schools aren’t built by accident. They’re built by brilliant teachers, support staff and leaders.

Like you, we care about long-term success. To ensure that schools continue to flourish, we need talented teaching staff who will grow and stay within their schools.

Develop your teaching staff

We work with trusts and schools to offer professional development courses and qualifications that meet your unique needs.

We can help you to:

  • Boost recruitment and retention by training your future teachers in your school
  • Qualify your teaching staff while they continue to work in your school
  • Upskill your teaching and support staff cost effectively
  • Close skills gaps and address subject shortages within your team

Work with a DfE accredited provider in the UK

For UK schools and trusts, we can help you access funded routes to train the next generation of teachers. We’re a nationally accredited provider of Initial Teacher Training (ITT), Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) and apprenticeships including the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship and Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship.

We care passionately about helping you to nurture your team from within. For your talented teaching staff who aren’t yet qualified, we offer the Straight to Teaching teacher development programme and Assessment Only route to qualified teacher status (QTS).

Ensure your teaching staff meet the requirements of the new Ofsted framework through targeted professional development, including:

  • Understanding of SEND and inclusive practice
  • Expertise in the national curriculum for the appropriate subject / age phase
  • Safeguarding training
  • Providing a professional learning programme for all staff
  • Supporting trainee teachers and early careers teachers (ECTs) to develop their teaching expertise

We’ll work with you to devise a programme that addresses any gaps in your PD provision, raising standards and lifting confidence for all.

Build a talented teaching team in your international school

Professional development is a key lever to help you attract and retain the best teaching talent in an increasingly competitive environment.

We offer two qualifications designed specifically for international schools: iQTS and iPGCE. Both enable you to demonstrate the credibility of your teaching staff with UK-backed qualifications:

  • iQTS is a teacher training course accredited by the UK Department for Education (DfE) and leads to qualified teacher status (QTS), the same qualification required to teach in England and Wales

  • Our iPGCE is awarded by the University of East London (UEL)

For schools offering a British curriculum, the Straight to Teaching teacher development programme and Assessment Only route to QTS enables your teachers to gain a DfE-accredited qualification without leaving your school.
