8 Inspirational Colour Sketches

8 Inspirational Colour Sketches

These 8 lively, colourful pictures offer inspiration for story-writing, poetry-crafting, newspaper report inventing, and enhancement of the topics they reflect, which include: wild woods, migrating birds, ocean, sunset, jungle, wild animals (British and tropical), dragons, magic carpet rides, transport, myths and more. NB: I sketched and coloured the pictures by hand, adjusting them slightly with basic computer software, so expect spontaneity rather than professional artwork or machine neatness. I use them for all primary classes.

Literacy Calendar 2018-19 PDF ONLY

Literacy Calendar 2018-19 PDF ONLY

A calendar of ‘literacy dates’ for teachers’ diaries 2018/19 - kids’ writing & reading competitions, projects, awards, annual days/weeks etc. FREE PDF version included. You can buy the editable word document for £1 here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/literacy-calendar-2018-19-11943973 I decided to produce the calendar in my role as co-ordinator for writing on the Literacy Team. I hope it that these easily digestible diary dates will enable all school staff to further promote literacy and engage children in meaningful, purposeful reading and writing for pleasure. I do not expect everyone to participate in everything, but rather teachers can pick and choose what would suit their class and curriculum topics. Of course, we will all join forces for larger events such as World Book Day and National Writing Day. The following table provides a map of the academic year (2018-19) with a range of key literacy-based calendar events. It includes national days or weeks and a whole host of school competitions and events. I’ve also added some key children’s literature award dates as it’s always good to keep an eye out for new and exciting quality texts. *Where possible, I have included precise dates but some dates were not available at the time of writing however each event is listed in the correct month/time of year.
