Une comptine - introduction to French literature

Une comptine - introduction to French literature

A lesson to introduce literature early in year 7 French (or in primary school if you are adventurous). It is based on a popular authentic French nursery rhyme. Each activity is differentiated. The lesson plan is very explicit but there is room for changes if you want to adapt some of the activities or change them. This is a great way to introduce literature progressively early in KS3 based on the new National Curriculum recommendations. This will also allow an easier transition when literature becomes compulsory at KS4 in MFL in the new specifications. This is the first of a series of resources dedicated to the teaching of authentic literary materials in French.

300 generic lesson activities - 25% sample

This is a 25% sample of my very popular resource. The full resource can be found by searching for '300 generic lesson activities'. (Following its success in the summer sale, I have kept the sale price of £3). The description for the full file is as follows: Create lessons in seconds with this HUGE PowerPoint of animated lesson activities. There are HUNDREDS of templates that you can over-type in seconds to create engaging lesson material. Highly praised by John Simpkin of Spartacus Educational and Mark Warner of Teaching Ideas. I am very confident you will like this. If you do, please click on my profile to see my other popular resources. Thanks (This file also has a bank of PowerPoint timers) The size of the file should show you how much stuff there is! Without sounding overly confident - it's the best resource out there! Many thanks Copyright T.Taylor

The present tense in French and the use of ILS and ELLES forms with regular and irregular verbs

The present tense in French and the use of ILS and ELLES forms with regular and irregular verbs

This will be the first part of the lessons on the endings for the present form for regular and irregular verbs in French. This contains a power point to be used as a guide and lesson plan, a starter sheet : students can use it and fill it in either looking at the clues at the back or they may choose to ignore the clues. There are opportunities for assessment highlighted on the power point, using mini whiteboards and I have also highlighted opportunities for questioning on some slides. The text the students will use to re write using the they form is from a textbook ( Studio ) so I have not used it but it can be created. The attached text called mes copains will support students for a class reading activities and there are two grids on the power point to help questioning. I have now updated this mini pack by adding the full lesson plan with differentiation highlighted on it if you wanted to use it or integrate in your own SOLS.

Use of DOP and pronouns in French. using ' dodgy English'

This is a resource that I created to support my year 10 through the use of DOP. They are used to ' dodgy English' and I am sharing this as they enjoyed the activities and gave me good feedback ( it has helped them massively and they are now confident with those ), especially the translation which they used a learning and consolidating activity. I have in my free resources a Power Point you can also access to teach the initial stages and the words for the needed DOPS for these activities.

GCSE and HAP activities on a disastrous day at school

GCSE and HAP activities on a disastrous day at school

This will be suitable for High ability students at KS3 and KS4 to develop higher level complex structures, reading skills, speaking skills and memory. This suits the topic of school and education and I have attached a list of suggested activities, all of them I have used myself and have led to some rather creative writing and spoken passages from my year 10.

Running translation and translation : au festival de Glastonbury

Running translation and translation : au festival de Glastonbury

This text is used as support for a running translation. The text can be studied in details either before or after the running translation. Sheet 2 has a series of sentences from the text. They are meant to be cut out and laminated and given to students who work in groups ( 4 works well ). They find the sentence, must bring it to the teacher, with all spellings and grammar correct. Any errors, the slip gets returned for students to think again, if correct, the students receive the next slip etc.. The first team to have translated the full set wins. Extension : ask students to extend on the phrases they translated. Good for spellings, grammar and memory

Grammar starters for French

Grammar starters for French

Here you will find examples of some of my favourite starters that I use with all the year groups I teach. Once down loaded, you may just adapt these to your topics. They have proved effective and also once you have the idea and the template, you get minimum preparation for maximised learning and consolidation. Feedback appreciated as always. Thank you
