GERMAN TELLING TIME DOMINOES #1

GERMAN TELLING TIME DOMINOES #1

These telling time dominoes games are really popular with students - they’re a great alternative to more traditional ‘drilling’ activities, and help students become more independent in their learning. They’re really ideal for pair and small-group work / centers. The focus in on o’clock, half past (which can be a bit tricky in GERMAN!), quarter to and quarter past the hour. There are 3 differentiated challenges: clock times in order, with the time phrase first; clock times in topsy-turvy order, also with the time phrase first and finally, clock times in topsy-turvy order, but with the clock face first. The background design is different on each challenge, so students can easily identify which challenge they’re working on. I’ve included a reference booklet, which my students always find helpful as a ‘forever’ reference resource, and particularly when they’re learning how to tell time. There are two GERMAN-ENGLISH lists - the first with all the time phrases in order and the second corresponding to the second challenge, with all the time phrases in topsyy-turvy order. The resource consists of three, non-editable files in a zipped format: dominoes games x 3 challenge levels reference booklet Although it’s time-consuming, laminate the dominoes if you can, as they’re easier to play with, and will last for a very long time! The TERMS OF USE explain the product license: the games are copyright, and for single-teacher / purchaser / classroom use only. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß BEIM SPIELEN!

GERMAN CONVERSATION CARDS

GERMAN CONVERSATION CARDS

THE IDEAL SET OF RESOURCES TO GIVE YOUR STUDENTS LOTS OF OPPORTUNITIES TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE IN SPEAKING - QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH A FOCUS ON BEGINNING AND GENERAL CONVERSATION, CULTURAL INFORMATION AND SEPARABLE VERBS IN BOTH THE PRESENT AND PERFECT TENSE - 400 QUESTION & ANSWER CARDS WITH REFERENCE RESOURCE BOOKLETS Perfect for speaking practice, and multi-skill language learning, this combined pack of TALK TIME IN GERMAN, SETS 1,2 3 and 4, provides 400 question and answer prompt cards that give your students structured talk opportunities, and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. Set 1 focuses on beginning conversation, and Set 2 takes this further, with a flavor of cultural information. Sets 3 & 4 focus on 25 high-frequency separable verbs, in both the present and the perfect tense. Students often find these quite tricky, but will certainly be able to get to grips with the structure of questions and sentences with regular practice. The prompt cards also feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the beginning and more intermediate stages of their GERMAN learning, including modal verbs, word order, case and prepositions governed by the accusative and dative. The REFERENCE BOOKLETS include all the questions and answers written out in full in GERMAN. Students find these very useful learning support resources and they’re also handy whole-group pronunciation practice and reading-out loud resources. Encourage students to use the NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. There is also an alphabetical verb reference list in the Sets 3 & 4 workbooks. The QUESTION AND ANSWER WRITING TEMPLATES give students the opportunity to apply their GERMAN very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too. You can also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with. The resource consists of eight non-editable files in a zipped format The sets are also available individually if you prefer, each priced at $4.00. ❤️ Look out for more ❤️ More “Erklärbär” games will be published and I am glad to share this wonderful game with you. It is great fun for learners to actually use their language skills to describe a word and the others guessing it. ❤️ About me ❤️ Hi there 👋🏼! I´m Cindy from Leipzig, Germany. I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. Year 7 German - School subjects

Year 7 German - School subjects

At least a week’s worth of work geared to building students’ confidence in asking and answering questions about school subjects. The questions and answers have been inspired by Pearson’s KS3 and KS4 assessments along with AQA’s specimen material. We’ve been trialling a new approach following student voice interviews. We are now introducing students to new language through a mixture of reading, listening and translation into English before moving on to speaking. Since taking this approach, we’ve seen students’ willingness to speak shoot up, as have their speaking grades. A pleasant surprise! This PowerPoint and workbook set is good to go. The notes pages on the first slide of the PowerPoint provide information about resources along with an overview of the lesson. Subsequent slides contain additional tips. The PowerPoint and ‘8 questions-8 opinions’ workbook are designed to be used together in the lesson, whereas the ‘Key questions for this chapter’ workbook is for homework. As students study a unit in class, they complete that section at home.
