All About Me Back to School Pop Art Box & Task Cards

This ‘Pop Art Box About Me’ art and getting to know you resource, is a fun, first week back to school ice breaker for both girls and boys. It is a really creative way for teachers and students to learn more about each other. Invite students to create a unique ‘All About Me Box’, following the template prompts using Pop Art style doodles and words. Box prompts include: Age, name, grade, self portrait, favorite colors, favorite fruit, my top goal, I love… Students can then fill their boxes with a selection of question cards and work in pairs or small groups to explore their learning goals, aspirations, likes and dislikes. 36 question cards are included, along with blanks for students to have some fun and invent their own questions and games, for example, ‘Would you rather…’ Another task is to make a ‘card to myself’ with a message or goal, or a kind note for a friend. For example, students can give these to their teacher to open at the end of the year. The coloured, finished example included features a girl’s face. However the actual face template has a ‘generic bald head’ so both boys and girls can create a self portrait from this outline. Classroom Decor includes Pop Art inspired garlands and posters to colour and display. There are doodle pages to keep early finishers occupied. UK/Aus/Can spelling options of favourite and colour are included in the templates. Boxes measure 2.6 x 2.6 x 2.6 inches / 6.6 x 6.6 x 6.6cm when finished. The entire box template is designed to fit one sheet of US Letter or A4 sized paper. A larger box template is also included if you have access to an 11x14 or A3 printer. The finished boxes make a fabulous display, on the bulletin board, pegged up on a line as a garland or suspended from the ceiling with clear thread. Guides for using Fusion 360

These two guides should help most students get to grips with Fusion 360. There are 2 versions available, I would suggest starting all students on the basic version, then distribute the Advanced sheets as required. I have trialed these guide sheets with Y7 - 10 students and found if they follow the steps closely they can excel with this powerful software package. The guides encourage students to build using ‘Components’ as a number of my pupils have become stuck having designed their model as a collection of ‘Bodies’. Although it makes teaching the software slightly more challenging to begin with, I have found this approach produces more stable models in the long run. These resources are freely available, make use of them and share, but please keep the logo on the bottom and do not sell them on. Thanks Dan

Year 10 Product design-Modelling Lesson (Dragon’s Den) This is a lesson planned I created for a QTS assessment and was graded outstanding. This is very detailed and easy to follow. Everything is differentiated and specifically designed to accommodate all in your class. The approach I used was a typical DRAGON’S DEN scenario where students had to present their prototype product to other groups of 4 in the class. Lesson Plan, Dragon’s Den questions, Next step emerging needs card included in Powerpoint as well as OCR Specs outlined for students to ensure that there is the suitable and correct amount of differentiation and assessments are achieved. The OFSTED inspector loved the idea and was impressed with the deeper level of thinking I developed by conducting the lesson in such a way. My questionning techniques were also a key features the Inspector identified as outstanding.

This is the booklet I use with my year 9 classes. It is completed over a 10 week period where there are 15 lessons. The work is to help build the skills required for NEA 1 and NEA 2 at GCSE. It introduces the basic skills including how to conduct an investigation, how to record results, how to research and how to produce detailed time plans. Pupils are encouraged to work as a team for the investigation work then independently for a food preparation task.

This is s PPT I used in a recent lesson observation for a HOD job in which I was successful. The theme is on upcycling it is lengthy and can be chopped and changed to meet the criteria and timing of the lesson.
