Exam survival Kit list

Exam survival Kit list

I used these with my yr 11s before they sat their exams. I collected together the objects on the list and put them into A5 plastic wallets. A bit of fun really, but the students loved them and they could be easily adapted if needed. Not a completely original idea, but I’ve created these list myself. You can buy kits that are completed with the items already gathered. However, the ones i could find were not great and quite pricey. I also thought it was nice to be able to personalise them if you wanted to. The picture is of one of the kits put together, although you can quite see all the items.

Craftivism: Climate Coalition Heart Badge

Craftivism: Climate Coalition Heart Badge

Award winning activist Sarah Corbett founded the Craftivist Collective in 2009 to create a community and resources that use craft as a tool for effective and gentle activism. A lifelong campaigner, Sarah became doubtful of traditional activism methods and wondered if we couldn’t use craft to protest in a gentler, more beautiful way. Sarah says: “Politicians and businesses take note when we stand up for what we believe: craftivism gifts for influential people can encourage them to be the change they wish to see in the world. The time and thought that goes into craftivism pieces shows genuine care and commitment. Handmade, unusual campaigns using craft attract media attention, give people who are nervous of activism the chance to join in and intrigue passers-by.

Scarves Wordsearch Sheet Starter Activity Keywords Cover Design Technology Fabrics

Wordsearch Puzzle sheet of keywords on the theme of ‘Scarves’. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!
