GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE 2

GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE 2

These German speaking practice cards are really popular with my students. There are 50 questions, with 50 suggested responses, and students can work their way through them at their own pace. I’ve found them to be very successful in terms of helping my students develop the confidence to speak German, which many try to avoid at all costs! As they become more proficient and confident, they can move away from the suggested questions and answers, and begin to formulate their own, using the existing cards as a reference frame - I give them a card template for this, and I’ve included one here too. There are quite a few games students can play, and I’ve described some of my most popular. I always lamina te my cards - they last for years, and are definitely easier to work with in the classooom. The language is more Intermediate German, and definitely with a real cultural flavour. I give my students regular opportunities to work with the cards, and they really enjoy working independently. I’ve written all the questions and answers in the reference booklet - we use this for a longer-term reading and writing reference resource too. This resource has two wo non-editable files in a zipped format. I’d be grateful if you would follow my TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, and for the purchaser’s use only - if your colleagues in the department want to use the resource, please purchase a whole-school license. Colleagues and/or friends further afield must make their own purchase. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß IN DER DEUTSCHSTUNDE!

I have been a German and English teacher for more than 12 years now. And I love coffee breaks ☕️. Coffee is just great. Over the years I have realized how much my students benefit most from lessons where THEY are the leaders, where THEY are encouraged to be proactive and learn from each other. Handing over the reins to my students doesn’t make me weaker as a teacher. It makes them responsible for their own learning and is highly motivating. I don’t want my students to be sailors. I want them to be CAPTAINS! (And I want coffee!) My teaching resources are all designed to enable students to USE the language. This is why you will always find the communicative approach in my resources - even simple crosswords come with ideas for speaking activities. GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS

GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS

A SET OF 36 DIFFERENTIATED QUESTION CARDS TO HELP YOUR STUDENTS GET TO GRIPS WITH GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of GERMAN numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling numbers in GERMAN. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Numbers 0-31, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in GERMAN, but also to enjoy working with GERMAN, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The resource comprises the following 3 files: Set of 36 cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Print, laminate and cut out. Depending on how long you want the activity to last for, choose a particular number of cards per small group of students, and place them in a tin, bowl or small box so that students can easily select a card, and then replace at the end of the activity. You can simply place all the cards in the bowl/box and let students work their way through, either in a single lesson, or across a series of lessons - I’ve found 15-20 minutes across several lessons can work really well. Students do need to remember to file their recording sheets carefully! 2-page answer recording sheet. Best printed double-sided. 2-page answer key, again best printed double-sided, and laminated for longevity. One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Students find this reference sheet really useful - download it for free here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-reference-sheets-11756058 There are 3 non-editable files in a zipped format.
