Introductory powerpoint for project on Berlin

Introductory powerpoint for project on Berlin

Project on Berlin with my year 9’s who were not continuing with German last year. When the project got under way we ended up focusing mostly on the Berlin Wall. (2nd PPT has pictures to illustrate the wall going up). The pupils wrote a diary entry on what it would have felt like to be in Berlin when the wall went up, then did a newspaper report on the wall coming down. They then did a tourist info leaflet. They produced some great work, and I managed to get hold of a genuine piece of the Berlin wall to give as a prize for the best project at the end!

Bystanders / Zuschauer Holocaust

Bystanders / Zuschauer Holocaust

Cards which I used with my yr9 CLIL group. Number 1 (I would think it was unfair) to Number 7 (I would put my family at risk to do something about it). LO of lesson (taken from History SoW) was to get pupils thinking about what kind of a person they are - show with some provocative You Tube clips, e.g. old lady being mugged etc. Pupils have to decide which number they think they are. Good for Nuremberg Laws also.

Oskar Schindler

Oskar Schindler

A simple ppt used with my yr9 CLIL group to look at Oskar Schindler, with a fairly challenging worksheet giving the key facts about him. I've also uploaded a copy of the first page of the genuine list, which I gave to students to hold. No explanation, just asked them to think about the power of what was in their hands and gave them time to reflect.
