The MFM1P 6000, Grade 9 Applied Culminating Activity - Simply Amazing!

The MFM1P 6000, Grade 9 Applied Culminating Activity - Simply Amazing!

A fresh approach to a culminating activity for grade 9 applied math, far from the routine pencil and paper! The "MFM1P 6000" is an interactive computer game which gives students an opportunity to show what they have learned, using models and strategies used in current MFM1P classes, while providing endless opportunity for practice and timely remedial help! Students receive instant automated feedback worded in growth mindset language. This program also provides teachers an extensive summary of students strengths and areas of difficulty. Download Tip ◾Your computer will flag the program as a virus. It is just doing it's job as it should for any unknown executable file! Be assured it is safe. Click "more info" and then "Run Anyway" etc. I know how tough it can be to motivate students to review material from the start of the semester in preparation for EQAO and the final exam. Set them loose in a computer lab for a few days with the MFM1P 6000 and watch the magic happen! Please visit calfordmath.ca/MFM1P6000 for a complete layout of the culminating activity including a complete curriculum connection list, and an up-to-date list of bug fixes and changes. This activity generates every single problem randomly so that every student has a different set of problems and can try as many attempts as necessary to master each topic. The topics span the MFM1P curriculum, and are arranged in difficulty from $100 to $500 score value. To earn 100%, a student must earn $6000 or more, and complete at least two problems from each category. I had tremendous engagement and much EQAO success with my grade 9 applied class last year when I piloted this activity. I have also added and tweaked many things! The game is a Windows Desktop Application designed for a PC. It is not web based, so you will need to copy the game file to a public handout folder where students can open it. I think you and your students will LOVE this! I would love to hear how it goes with your class, and I welcome any suggestions you have! Thanks for checking this out, ~CalfordMath

Geometry Shape Consolidation Year 1 Block 3 WRM Reasoning and Problem Solving

This resource is aimed at Year 1 Secure and has been designed to give children the opportunity to consolidate the skills they have learned in the White Rose Maths Guidance and Examples Block 3 – Geometry: Shape The questions are based on a selection of the same ‘small steps’ that are addressed in the block, but are presented in a different way so children can work through the pack independently and demonstrate their understanding and skills. You can find more Reasoning and Problem Solving resources designed to be used with the White Rose Maths Guide here: https://classroomsecrets.co.uk/search/?fwp_topic=white-rose

Measurement Test Generator for Year 9

Measurement Test Generator for Year 9

This resource has been created in Microsoft Excel and is designed to be used as a test or practice test for Year 9 Measurement. Knowledge assessed includes: Perimeter, area, volume, total surface area and conversion between units in one, two and three dimensions. Admittedly, this resource does not comprehensively allow students to demonstrate knowledge at the A level against the Australian Curriculum for Year 9 as there is only one challenging worded problem at the end. I created this resource because I love having students ask for practice questions, but hate writing new questions and their solutions. This resource contains multiple choice questions and short answer questions as well as a solutions tab to each question for printing solutions. All values, and most worded problems are randomly generated from the 'Variables' tab to produce a unique set of questions when F9 (Windows) or fn F9 (Mac) are pressed. Most multiple choice questions will have their answer order randomized. Solutions are generated to match.

7th Grade Math Stations Bundle

7th Grade Math Stations Bundle

These middle school math stations are just what you need to help your students develop a deep understanding of mathematics. There are at least four stations in each set. The focus of these stations is for students to discover and apply mathematical principles. The students will delve into the mathematics and gain a strong foundation. These stations are set to take one to two class periods. These are great for group work but also work well as homework, assessments or individual work. Included in all stations is a recording sheet and answer sheet. What makes these different than other math stations available? Make Sense of Math stations are created with the intent that students will conceptually understand the mathematical concepts. These math stations are not simply "busy work" worksheets. Students will write, model, justify, create, explain and practice the mathematics.
