An end of topic test on Ecosystems. Designed to coincide with the Geog.1 unit, however I'm confident that it can be easily tweaked to suit any unit on ecosystems. A worksheet with answers for anyone studying peacemaking and the League of Nations. This corresponds to the current AQA GCSE History B specification, however it can also be adapted for any board or age level. This task asks students to match Wilson's original 14 points with simplified versions of each. It then has extension questions on the points. Please rate and leave feedback! Source assessment on the murder of Thomas Becket. Quite challenging for Yr 7 pupils, so I would recommend going through one/two sources in class using the Analysis/Evaluation template. Included is the set of 4 sources, a template and a marking grid (that can be adapted to various other assessments). This can be easily differentiated by offering fewer sources or adding more descriptions to the sources.

Resources relating to a Year 8 Geography lesson on coastal defences. Included is a PowerPoint presentation where students are introduced to the different types of sea defences that are available (encourage comments on cost, appearance, suitability etc.) Students can then use the worksheets to decide how they would defend the coast line of Hornsea (I laminated the map so they could draw on their ideas with whiteboard pens). You could stretch G&T students by applying costs to the different types of defences and giving them a budget, or you could throw a curve ball such as: 'residents have said they do not want sea walls'. These are great resources for introducing coastal defences and students can then begin to compare the benefits/limitations of each.

This is a great field work topic with several different aspects; however, each areas comes under the umbrella of sustainability. Students will need to visit 2 different supermarkets (we visited a small M&S and a large Tesco within walking distance of the school) and find the countries of origin of several fruits and vegetables. As a class we then: labelled these on a blank map of the world (for a display), calculated the distance travelled and created graphs (Excel, cross-curricular with ICT!) based on food miles/carbon emissions. Another aspect was packaging and recycled products. Students had to fill in a survey of the products in the supermarkets; we also interview customers and members of staff for their shopping habits. This all culminated in a huge display on sustainability. This resource can be adapted for any KS3 class and can be used as a stand alone topic or as part of ecosystems/sustainability topics. It would be great for PSHE too!

Two worksheets on the formation of glaciers and the difference between erosion, transportation and deposition. These resources are to be used in conjunction with the Geog.1 unit on Glaciers for Year 7 pupils (however, it can certainly be adapted for other age groups). Also included is a revision song on glaciers to the tune of 'Merry Christmas, Everyone!' (It's a Glacier, Everyone! - It helped that it was Christmas time...) This is such a tricky topic to teach, so any opportunity to get pupils using the key terms is useful.

A challenging worksheet focusing on 'Earth's Story' and what order things first appeared on Earth. This was used as an introductory lesson in Year 7 Geography; however, it could certainly be incorporated into Science SOW on Evolution, or as an introductory History lesson on chronology! The first half of the worksheet is relatively straightforward; however, some students may need supporting with the final question (Earth's story as a 24hr clock) as it is a tricky concept for some to get their heads around.

A basic file management task for KS2/KS3. Students have to follow a set of instructions to create/rename/delete folders. They can then be extended by encouraging them to copy/move folders around. These skills are essential in the first few weeks of term so that students keep their work areas tidy. The resource will need to be edited slightly to instruct students to create the folders in their relevant work areas.

This resource is relevant to the new AQA GCSE specification on Restoration England, 1660-1685; however, it could be adapted for KS3 or A Level. A clear and simple labeled map of the key overseas locations featured in the new AQA specifications. Students will need to use their prior knowledge (or complete alongside the text book) to label each location and summarise its significance within the course. Each location was a key centre for trade or land; all locations have been explained in depth in the Hodder text book. This would be a great note taking exercise as the book tends to waffle slightly.

Handouts and a PowerPoint created in support of the Edexcel AS Level unit: The Unification of Italy, 1830-1870. Included are two blank revision diagrams to allow students to write notes in an ordered way on the 1848 revolutions and why they failed. Ideally this would be blown up to A3 and a map of Italy has been included for reference. Also included is a detailed, completed copy of the 'events' handout using a number of text books. Lower ability students could be given this to support note taking or this could be shown on a projector and talked through in class. I have also included a PowerPoint presentation that can be used as a walkthrough during a lesson on this topic. Please note that as this is an independent learning lesson, the PowerPoint presentation is used for guidance, it does not include all of the answers!

A card sort activity showing the decline of relations between Charles II and Parliament during his reign. Each card gives an example of something that caused tension between the two sides. Students can sort the cards using the instructions on page 2 of the resource. They can then use the cards to answer an exam style question.
