Ma personnalité - Card Game

Ma personnalité - Card Game

This game is a French version of the classic " I have… Who has …? " game, designed to practice asking and answering basic questions (name, age, nationality, family, siblings, pets, preferences etc) This is an easy-to-play game and a great way to practice essential language concepts with the whole class. As students match up the answers on their cards with questions on other students’ cards, they get valuable practice with vocabulary, as well as reading and listening skills. Directions: Cut out the cards along the dotted line and laminate. For bigger classes, you might want to print several copies of each set. Give out all the cards in the set to the students. It is important to use all the cards. Choose a student to go first. I usually do that by a counting rhyme. Have the selected student read the question at the bottom of the card aloud and then put the card down. The student who has the card with the answer then reads that answer aloud. This student will then read the question at the bottom of their card and put the card down. Play continues in this fashion until all of the cards have been played. The game will end with the same student who started play. Every card in the set is connected to a card before it and a card after it. To keep the game moving at a quick pace, all students need to pay attention to every question that has been asked. I tell my younger students that this is a magic game and that the magic only works if you pay attention, which is actually true. The magic happens in the end, when the question on the last card actually matches the answer on the very first card. Enjoy!

French 'All about me' Resource Pack- face and body parts

French 'All about me' Resource Pack- face and body parts

I have attached some presentations to help children learn the vocab needed for an 'All about me' topic in French. They focus on facial features and body part names, as well as key phrases they will need to describe themselves or others. Facial features are taught with the Guess Who? game- play in partners to describe one of the characters, or play whole class on IWB! Prompt sheets with easy to find vocab for facial features, size, hair colour, eye colour, hair length etc. Body parts taught in a similar way but with aliens! Presentation with lots of colourful, varied aliens with different numbers of arms, legs etc. to practice naming and describing. Teaches how to say phrases such as 'She/he has...5 legs' etc and prompt sheet to print for pairs to play Guess Who? naming the aliens! Again, can be played whole class or in partners- used as whole lesson or recap starter activity. My Year 4 class loved playing these games and it really helped to teach the vocab in full phrases, rather than learning the individual words! I hope this will be useful to you :)

Introductory lesson to French culture and greetings.

Introductory lesson to French culture and greetings.

A excellent way to introduce your new classes to French. This resource is great for both primary school pupils and new year 7 classes! It consists of a starter activity which tests their prior knowledge of basic French greetings. The lesson then moves on more broadly to discuss the French speaking world and highlights how widely the language is spoken. Once this has been covered, the pupils are introduced to basic French greetings and are expected to create a comic strip acting out what they have learnt. The lesson also consist of a fun quiz in which pupils are tested on their knowledge of where French is spoken and the phrases that they have learnt during the lesson.

A simple presentation to introduce " Comment ça va?".

This is a powerpoint presentation to introduce comment ça va with just three possible answers: tres bien, mal and comme-ci, comme ça. It uses various pictures of animals/ a baby looking happy or sad with repetition of the question asked by little aliens. I have used a presentation by Jules Morris from the Tes website for the graphics for which I thank him.

PRIMARY FRENCH 12 QUICK VOCAB QUIZZES

PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING FRENCH LANGUAGE SKILLS AND PRACTISING VOCABULARY IN FRENCH - 120 ESSENTIAL WORDS AND PHRASES WRITTEN AND ORAL QUIZZES! PRIMARY FRENCH QUICK VOCABULARY QUIZZES SETS 1, 2 and 3 really do help to create a lively language learning environment, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. Children can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their FRENCH vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. The quizzes have a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if the featured vocabulary doesn’t correspond exactly to the language in your past, current, short or even longer-term learning plans - the quizzes are a great way of encouraging children to engage with both familiar and new language, and to feel confident using bilingual dictionaries. Use during lessons which focus specifically on these vocabulary groups, as well as as starters, plenaries or ’pick-me-ups’ at any time during the school year for maximum benefit! The sets feature words and phrases in the following vocabulary groups: - Colours - Days of the Week - Months and Seasons of the Year - Greetings - My family - Numbers 0-31 - Parts of the body - Everyday words and Conversation There are 120 words & phrases and four quizzes, each with a different challenge and skill focus: QUIZ 1: children write the ENGLISH word from a FRENCH prompt QUIZ 2: children write the FRENCH word from an ENGLISH prompt QUIZ 3: children can play in teams or individually, responding orally with the correct ENGLISH word from a written FRENCH prompt QUIZ 4: children can play in teams or individually, responding orally with the correct FRENCH word from a written ENGLISH prompt QUIZZES 3 and 4 are really useful for reading out loud and pronunciation practice too, and are also provided in pdf format so that children can use independently on tablets or similar devices - this is great if you're homeschooling too. The written quizzes are provided in 3 different formats to suit your particular preference: 12 FRENCH-ENGLISH quiz sheets; 12 ENGLISH-FRENCH quiz sheets; all 24 quiz sheets, alternately FRENCH and ENGLISH, which work really well if you can print and photocopy double-sided and prepare in a workbook format - children love to turn the page over and see how well they do ’the other way round’! French Greetings Bundle

French Greetings Bundle

All you will need for a strong and engaging first lesson with your new classes. That first lesson back can be a bit flat because they resources for greetings and simple questions and answers can be pretty dull. Whether you buy this bundle to use with beginner learners or as a refresher lesson for new classes, you won't be disappointed. I have included a great video with music and robots for immediate impact- pop it on as they walk in. The PowerPoint introduces the vocab so you can drill and then includes some classic language games and a chance for you to get them to listen and match up (and copy the lang into their books if you wish). There is a 'one page learning' great for differentiation, as a support tool, a revision sheet, homework, learning mat...whatever you like! An interactive quiz for a snappy start or memorable exit game and two versions of follow me cards (small class or large class). Second PowerPoint to introduce days of week and months of year also included. GREAT VALUE!!! Please consider leaving a review :)

French Interactive Quiz: Greetings Robots Theme

French Interactive Quiz: Greetings Robots Theme

Interactive Quiz to test pupils on their understanding of greetings and simple questions and answers. Multiple choice answers, if they select the correct answer they are taken to a 'tres bien' slide, incorrectly they are taken to an 'oh non' slide and given a chance to choose again. It is great for a whole class quiz (you say the options and they pop hands up), or to out one pupil in the spotlight/hot seat or as a physical tap and go activity where they line up and make their selection then go to the back of the line. You could use a classroom timer to inject extra challenge and competition.

French Stopwatch Starter Activity

French Stopwatch Starter Activity

A lesson starter to help recap vocabulary. Stopwatches and questions are printed and laminated and put on a French classroom board, or somewhere visible. At the start of the lesson, children sit in a circle and 'pass' the question around the circle whilst being timed - for example, a child would ask 'comment t'appelles-tu ?' to the child on their left, who would answer and then ask the child on their left, who would answer and then ask the child on their left etc until all children have asked and answered and then the timer stops, and the time is written on the stopwatch. Next time you practise, see if the children can beat their time. This helps improve confidence and is a fun way to get children speaking and revising vocabulary! In the document are some sample questions but the document is fully editable to add whatever your class needs.
