Wetter (Weather in German) Schnecke Snail game

Students must identify the weather as they advance along the snail path. Just pictures are given, so it is easy to adapt for each textbook. Make 1 copy for every 3-4 students; print on cardstock and laminate to keep forever. You need 1 die for every game board. Includes 2 versions. Pictures represent: hot, cold, sunny, snow, rain, windy, cool, cloudy, [lightening, tornado, foggy, rainbow, hail]. Only the first 8 are used on game 1. All 13 are used on game 2.

Presentation designed to enhance or revise students knowledge of basic German vocabulary and may be a useful activity as a starter or plenary. The presentation may also be useful in providing meaningful “cover” work and in supporting non-specialist teachers. 6 topics are covered with word searches with different levels of difficulty to allow an element of differentiation. Hyperlinks are embedded throughout the presentation. Comparable presentations in French and Spanish are also available.

Differentiated 'Das Wetter' Homework

Two versions of the same writing task but differentiated for lower and higher ability students. 1) Lower - students are challenged with an authentic German weather report showing the the 16 states and students must describe the weather in each state. One example is given re: word order. 2) Students respond to the same weather report but must describe the daily temperature highs and lows using key challenge language supplied.
