Higher Order Questioning - Staff Presentation

Higher Order Questioning - Staff Presentation

I was asked to put together a presentation for staff to explain the importance of higher level questioning and give some examples of approaches and activities to encourage it. The powerpoint does just that! This was followed up with further training sessions and now I lead a SWG for stretch and challenge. Please feel free to contact me if you would like further explanation of any activities or further examples. I have not been able to upload the Question Generator but can send this to you separately. Also included, a self assessment sheet and notes to go with the powerpoint. Additionally, the slides contained structured questions relevant to the subject, within the Academy I teach at, all subject areas produced a specific one. The idea being that students get more used to higher order questioning and encourages better peer questioning, teachers have a visual aid - often useful if being observed.

Generic Extension Task Stickers + Stretch & Challenge Activities

Generic Extension Task Stickers + Stretch & Challenge Activities

112 different stickers tasks. They can be used as extension stickers, pupils come up and pick one and stick it into their book and complete the task. Or Can be used as stretch and challenge stickers for fast finishes and revision aid for the more able students. You can download and print them multiple times. I personally use them for GCSE PE and put them on a back desk and pupils when completing tasks go and help themselves, they pick different tasks. I award house points if they complete so many in a lesson. Applicable to most topics, all tasks are generic and are not specific to elements of topics or PE. Independent learning. Can also be used for other subjects. Works best when printing the stickers on Herma Premium - 48, 5 x 25, 4mm (http://www.herma.co.uk/en/product-catalogue/labels/address-labels/sender/labels-a4-superprint-4474.html) All attached documents and resources have 'no copyright infringement intended', all images have been found on google or authorisation has been gained from the original author to utilise in the various resources.

An Inspector Calls Comprehension Activities Booklet!

An Inspector Calls Comprehension Activities Booklet!

This resource booklet contains a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use throughout the reading of J.B. Priestley's 'An Inspector Calls.' Teachers have found them particularly useful in exam revision, comprehension tasks, or guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of students towards meeting the KS4 expectations within the new National Curriculum framework - this makes the tasks suitable for all examining bodies. Students have found these resources extremely engaging, and for teachers there is explicit information within each task regarding which comprehension strands the task is designed to demonstrate. They also relate to key extracts, characters, and themes from the story, ensuring that students gain a deep understanding of the text. Activities within the booklet include: - 'Context: Pre-War Britain' - to aid students with 'Drawing on knowledge of the purpose, audience and context of the writing, including its social, historical and cultural context and the literary tradition to which it belongs, to inform evaluation;' - 'Priestley's Description' - to aid students with 'Analysing a writer’s choice of vocabulary, form, grammatical and structural features, and evaluating their effectiveness and impact;' - 'The Inspector' - to aid students with 'Seeking evidence in the text to support a point of view, including justifying inferences with evidence;' - 'Editing the Play' - to aid students with 'Making an informed personal response, recognising that other responses to a text are possible and evaluating these.' Plus many, many more activities (the booklet is around 30 pages in length!) I've also added it as a PDF in case the formatting differs on your computer. All images are licensed for commercial use, and are cited on a separate document (included).

@AllRoundRes ULTIMATE PEEL Paragraph Guide! + Planning Pages!

@AllRoundRes ULTIMATE PEEL Paragraph Guide! + Planning Pages!

Firstly, if you choose to download my resource(s), please take the time to leave a rating (as I know most of don't really bother) - I do really value your feedback. ***** FOLLOW @AllRoundRes, to stay up-to-date with the latest resources and news! ***** #GetYourLearnOn I created this resource to be used a display in classrooms to show and explain what a PEEL paragraph is. It is designed to help students understand what a PEEL paragraph is and how they can use it in their writing, across all subjects and levels. The resource itself is split into 4 different posters/displays/worksheets. The first is a guide to show what each letter of PEEL stands for and how you form a paragraph using the acronym. It also gives simple image to illustrate the main point of the letter. The second includes a range of sentence starters for each of the letters, giving students a starting point form and write a PEEL paragraph. The third gets students to think about what they need to do when forming a peel paragraph. Giving simple questions, that students should think about and try to find out before writing the paragraph. The fourth is writing frame template to help student form and write the perfect PEEL paragraph. Also, included is a variety of different planning sheets, to help students prepare and plan what they are going to write in their paragraph. All 5 planning pages coincide with colour codes of PEEL for each letter, perfect to help students get their learning and understanding together to form the perfect paragraph! All slides are colour coded, in conjunction with PEEL, so each letter has its own colour. You could print them in A3 size to display around your classroom, so if students get stuck they can refer to them. Or, you could print onto one sheet and hand to students to put in their diary or stick in their books for future reference. The template page you could print a few up and pin them to a board so student can take one to help them when needed. I would suggest printing them in colour, to get maximum use of the individual colour coded letters. *************************************************************************************** If you have any queries, questions or concerns, then please email allroundresources@gmail or alternatively write a comment describing your needs, where I will be happy to help! ***** Be sure to follow me, to keep update with my most recent uploaded resources! *****
