Markbook Ultra - fully automated teacher markbook

Markbook Ultra - fully automated teacher markbook

Markbook Ultra is an incredibly powerful yet wonderfully simple automated markbook. How does it work? In brief, you enter the student’s raw marks for any assessment and the markbook uses sophisticated analysis to present you with all the data you’d want to see on an individual student or whole classes. Highlights: Store all of your classes (KS3-5) in one simple Excel workbook. Suitable for any subject area regardless of how or what you assess. Can be set to show up to five different assessment objectives. A simple dropdown menu switches the mark scheme for any KS4/5 class between GCSE (9-1), A Level or Pre-U. No need to use different workbooks for different types of grades! On the go analysis on individual students, each assessment or classes as a whole. One-click button (literally!) to bring up an analysis sheet detailing: Top and Bottom achievers in the class, Gender Gap, SEND compared to Non-SEND, and PP compared to Non-PP. One more click to print it… One click button to print a summary sheet for any student. This gives a breakdown of all assessments and their marks. Shows progress against targets and gives a graph of progress over time. Great for discussing at parents’ evening or with individual students. One click button to print all completed assessment data. Set your own grade boundaries in five quick presets or choose them individually for each assessment. KS3 markbooks can be switched between numerical levels and RAG rated strand systems. Again, it’s a single button click. Detailed ‘How to’ sheet that walks you through anything you’d want to do! All Macros work on PC and Mac. This workbook has been designed from the ground up to work anywhere.

Time Saving Marking Feedback Sheets

Time Saving Marking Feedback Sheets

This resource is an excel spreadsheet that will save you having to write out the same WWWs and EBIs for your class. This has made my marking much faster and simpler. The students like it as it is easy to understand and they do a good amount of responding to their feedback in their books. The method that I use is shown below (best used when you pick a task, then mark that specific task, for example, task with a success criteria, some exam questions, essay or worksheet). Enter the name of the assessment on the ‘Page Set-up’ sheet (add date if you want). Enter the type of assessment on the ‘Page Set-up’ sheet. Copy over student names from SIMS in to ‘Page Set-up’ sheet. Mark all work. Enter several WWW and EBIs into the ‘WWW&EBI’ sheet. For each person enter 2 WWW and 2 EBI numbers into the A column for the WWWs and the C column for the EBIs . The columns on the right (B for WWWs and D for EBIs) will be automatically populated. Print all (I do it on yellow paper).

TA Activity Planner (Editable)

TA Activity Planner (Editable)

I created this resource when I was completing my teacher training as I wanted to evidence that I had explicitly planned for a teaching assistant. I found it worked really well, especially as the TA was fairly new to the role. I would recommend this resource to NQTs and teachers with new teaching assistants. I have left an example plan that can be edited. The second sheet also allows the TA to give some written feedback about how the activity went.

KWHL Thinking Tool

KWHL Thinking Tool

The K-W-H-L thinking tool can be used throughout a lesson or unit. It serves as an aid to ensure a student’s interest is catered to and helps to determine what needs to be taught. The chart is introduced at the beginning of the topic, and can only be completed once a student have finished their investigation of the topic. The chart can also be used as an assessment tool. This thinking tool can be integrated into a number of subject areas as the focus is on developing general capabilities and 21st century skills. Students will be able to represent and communicate ideas and findings in a variety of ways.
