JUNIOR CERT 5 mins starter (work on vocal/letter/postcards/notes)

JUNIOR CERT 5 mins starter (work on vocal/letter/postcards/notes)

A list of bullet points taken from the Junior Cert Higher Level exam (LETTERS/FORMAL LETTERS/POSTCARDS/NOTES from 2017 to 2000) which I cut into strips and put in a jar. A student pick one at the beginning of the lesson and that's the one they will have to write for 5 min. I also use this technique to work on the listening and the vocabulary (see the list "VOCABULARY-5MIN"). For example if the students pick "SPELLING", I spell 5 names which they have to write. these document can be edited to suit your class. You could choose only the part that you have done. It is a good way to revise the letters, formal letters, postcards, notes and vocabulary. Enjoy! Feedback much appreciated.

French for Adults: Beginners: Part 3: Days of the week, numbers 1-21, age, birthdays

Preparation time: 30 minutes - 1 hour (introducing new vocabulary and also the transcript for the listening activity) Lesson length: 1 hour - 1 hour 20 minutes Here is the 3rd resource for introducing French to adults at beginner's level! I have compiled this resource using an adult approach who are learning French for the very first time. This activity focuses on numbers 1-21, age, days of the week and birthdays. It also briefly introduces the concept of 'de' used to signify possession which differs greatly from English. This resource also incorporates all the four keys skills such as reading, listening, speaking and writing. Happy teaching and learning!

Message magique: devinette de Noël

Message magique: devinette de Noël

These magic message riddles will serve as instant Christmas cards for your students if you print them on card stock. The riddles resemble QR codes until you raise them to eye level and read the “magical messages” from bottom - indicated by a red number - to top. There are four cards to the page. Decades ago, these things took me forever and a day to draw by hand. But then I could legitimately challenge my students to draw a message of their own. Nowadays, I use the computer so they just take forever. However, I’ve lost the moral authority to launch my drawing challenge. But the “wow” moment when a student actually sees the message still makes it worthwhile.

GCSE FRENCH: Qui suis-je? Interactive activity for advanced secondary French students

GCSE FRENCH: Qui suis-je? Interactive activity for advanced secondary French students

Qui suis-je? Interactive activity for advanced secondary French students ⇨ 75 cards with detailed descriptions of common nouns using higher level French ⇨ Use cards to have students work in pairs or small groups. ⇨ Use PDF with one card per page to project and use as a whole class activity. ⇨ Cards feature detailed descriptions for students to read and have others guess the noun that has been described. ⇨ Higher level grammar and vocabulary used in descriptions helps more advanced students get more exposure to grammar in context while having a lot of fun! While it is good to have students come up with their own descriptive sentences in French, sometimes it's just as great to have them read descriptions aloud to each other. Students will see advanced grammar in use and will understand new vocabulary words through context. This is a unique way to improve when students have already been exposed to a lot of grammar. Here are a few examples: ⭐ Les voyageurs m'aiment beaucoup parce que je suis très utile quand on veut parcourir de longues distances. On ne me conduit pas. On me pilote. Qui suis-je? ⭐ Je suis un avion! ⭐ J'existe pour aider les gens qui ne voient pas très bien. Ils me posent sur leur nez. J'ai deux verres pour les aider à mieux voir. Qui suis-je? ⭐ Je suis les lunettes! This resource can be used over and over, and since there are so many cards you will have plenty of variety. The grammar varies from card to card, so you can easily pick and choose which ones you would like to use for different levels. Cherchez l'erreur - Identify and correct common mistakes in French

Cherchez l'erreur - Identify and correct common mistakes in French

Cherchez l'erreur - Identify and correct common mistakes in French ⇨ 50 French sentences with grammatical errors ⇨ English translations of what the French sentences are SUPPOSED to mean ⇨ Students look for the mistakes and rewrite the sentences correctly ⇨ Audio recording - Hear English sentences to be translated, pause to translate and speak response, listen and repeat correct French translation read twice to improve fluency and pronunciation ⇨ Teacher support guide - 21 pages of notes about each of the 50 sentences to help teachers explain to students why the sentences are incorrect As you teach French, do you find that over the years you hear students making the same kinds of grammar mistakes over and over again? English speaking students in particular often make the same kinds of mistakes. Here are just a few examples of common mistakes I've heard time and again over the last 20 years teaching French: ⭐ Je voudrais un verre de l'eau avec glaçons. ⭐ On aime des pommes et des bananes. ⭐ J'arrive chez toi autour de 17h00. ⭐ Nous sommes sur l'avion déjà. ⭐ Tu attends pour le bus? ⭐ Je pense de ton problème. ⭐ Nous nous lavons nos mains. ⭐ Je la donne un cadeau. You've probably seen the same kinds of mistakes with your students. Very often, mistakes that are made go back to basic French that wasn't mastered when it was introduced for the first time. This activity offers an excellent opportunity to revisit lots of basic grammar that otherwise often gets ignored as we progress through the chapters and more advanced grammar. I like to use this kind of activity at back to school for returning students or at the end of a quarter or semester as a solid review. Read on to find out 10 ways I like to use these cards including the popular SCOOT game. Instructions and recording sheet are included. All cards are visually stimulating and feature a circle to punch out in the upper left corner so that you can print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and hook the cards together with a ring. Using these cards this way makes it easy to pull them out year after year to use as NO PREP speaking activities. Included: 30 speaking prompt cards - color (4 per page to print and cut out) 30 speaking prompt cards - black and white PDF version to project and avoid printing (1 card per page to project) 10 different ways to use these cards Scoot game instructions Scoot recording sheet There are many ways you can use this set of cards: ➤ Print, laminate, cut out, punch holes and attach on a ring for small groups to ask and answer questions. ➤ Project the pdf file in class to work in group or with your whole class and avoid printing. ➤ Use as a warm-up speaking activity with a conversation partner. As students enter the classroom have them choose 2-3 cards from a box. ➤ Students who finish their work earlier than others can choose a few of the cards and write out correct answers to false statements. ➤ Use as exit tickets. Give each student a card before the end of class and as they walk out of the room they tell the teacher their answer. ➤ Stations: Put students into groups and divide the cards amongst them. Have groups rotate to a new station as they finish the cards. ➤ Scoot: Put one card on each desk in the classroom. Give each student a response sheet and set a timer to give them just enough time to answer true or false and to correct the false statements. When the timer rings students move on to the next desk and the next question. All cards are numbered so it is simple to stay organized. Full instructions are included. ➤ Use the cards with board games. Students must answer a question in order to move. ➤ Use the cards as an icebreaker activity at the beginning of the school year or right after school holidays. ➤ Great resource for tutoring sessions and vocabulary building.
