Freedom of Religion - Hindu Views (GCSE RS - Hinduism - Human Rights & Social Justice) L5/7

This fully resourced lesson is for those teaching Hinduism as a comparative religion at GCSE level. It is the fifth in our seven-lesson Hinduism unit for Theme F: Religion, Human Rights & Social Justice and focuses on Hindu beliefs, techings and views about religious tolerance. It also deals with contemporary and historic inter-faith tensions between Hinduism and other religions (especially Islam). It was designed with the AQA Religious Studies specification in mind, but relevant to all GCSE Religious Studies teachers covering Hinduism. The lesson features starters, learning objectives, key-words, key-information, pictures, instructions and information for a poster-design task, AfL tasks, discussion and debate tasks and homework. AQA A GCSE Theme F Human Rights and Social Justice: Lesson 1 Human Rights and Religious Freedom

This is the 1st lesson in the AQA A GCSE thematic unit of work for ‘Religion, human rights and social justice’ and it is focused on social justice, human rights and religious freedom. This lesson covers the equivalent of two sections of this theme so is comprehensive. However, it has been designed so that some of the tasks can be set as home learning if you are running short on time/have to complete the course in a limited number of lessons a week. The lesson has been fully resourced to a high standard with a range of differentiated tasks (using the good, better, ASPIRE system). The lesson is designed to challenge the students as well as make them familiar with new concepts, knowledge and how to apply their learning to the exam. There is a 5 mark exam question in this lesson so that the students are constantly being reminded of exam technique and what will be expected of them in terms of application of knowledge. This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS3. I have also written a two to three hour Flip Learning Project with an example of one completed. Christianity around the world is covered from different countries with a range of activiites and discussion points for each. Easter around the world is also included. The children really enjoyed learning about diversity within a faith. The PPT has 13 lessons and 69 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too.
