This lesson has been designed to cover the Connections, Comparisons, and Communities ACTFL standards. It provide students with an opportunity to integrate the vocabulary, grammar, and culture concepts previously acquired:
• People, places, and lessons in school
• Subject pronouns
• Verb ser in present tense
• Use of pronouns with school-related nouns and other verb forms
• México: cultural fusion, Spain and Native Americans, and Mestizo culture
Students and their teacher will watch the Spanish version of the vocabulary and grammar video together. Then, students must complete two engaging extension activities: Así es mi escuela and Carta al director(a), which will allow them to create projects that can be shared with their classmates or family to show the Spanish knowledge gained up to this point. Each activity includes its corresponding rubric.

This unit −aligned to ACTFL standards− explores Mexico and its main regions, including Mexico City. To fully complete the instruction process, students will need access to a recording device. This unit includes:
- Five core lessons where new content is introduced. Spanish-only and bilingual videos are used to introduce and review the new vocabulary and grammar of the lesson. Each lesson has two sets of question sections that provide the students with practice to reinforce the learning process. After the activity section, students may take a 5-question quiz to test retention.
