This workbook focuses on the conjugation of FRENCH -ER VERBS in the PERFECT TENSE. I’ve chosen 25 high-frequency verbs that it’s important for students to be comfortable with. The workbook has 150 ‘quick conjugations’, with 3 differentiated conjugation challenges. There’s an answer key book too - I always give my students an answer key - they like to learn independently, and it allows them to both self and peer assess, and also gives them a further opportunity to practice conjugating the verbs - they do really enjoy ‘correcting’ each others’ work!
I create a lot of these kinds of workbooks for my students - they find the ‘quick recall’ a really successful way of developing their understanding and skill. The workbook is useful for lots of different learning contexts, such as directed class time when I’m introducing how to conjugate verbs in the perfect tense, for vacation revision and practice or for sub lessons. My students definitely prefer to have the chance to do the conjugations regularly - I give them 10 minutes every few lessons to work with them, until they’re confident - even my advanced learners like to revisit the conjugations from time to time.
I’ve included two alphabetical verb reference lists, FRENCH-ENGLISH and ENGLISH-FRENCH to ensure that students learn these key verbs. The conjugation challenges, which each have 50 individual conjugations, are structured as follows:
CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in FRENCH across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding ENGLISH verb conjugation.
CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in FRENCH, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in FRENCH.
CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding FRENCH verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an ENGLISH prompt.
The NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template is a great learning tool for students - it really helps them to reflect on their progress. The answer key has six pages in a booklet format - this is really useful to help students develop more independence in their learning.
MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BONNE CONJUGAISON !
