International Day of Happiness Assembly -20th March -Key Stages 3, 4 and 5

International Day of Happiness

Happier Together

20th March 2020

This assembly is suitable for students in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

A change in attitudes is underway all over the world. People are now recognising that progress should be about increasing human happiness and wellbeing, not just growing the economy. In 2011, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution which recognised happiness as a ‘fundamental human goal.’

But how do we define happiness? Is it something we are born with or is it something we can learn? People have agonized over these questions for centuries. A big part of how happy we are depends on our mind-set, the habits we practise, and the way we live each day. By learning the key ingredients of happiness, we can use them to become happier.
This age-appropriate, thought-provoking assembly takes a look at the current science around happiness and ask students to consider their own attitudes to it. Learning how to live a happy life is about learning how we work. It is up to us to take control of our own being.

This pack will save you hours of preparation time. It comprises of a 31-slide power-point presentation with a detailed script, music accompaniment and a prayer for happiness.

The presentation can be used in a number of ways;
• for a school assembly/presentation
• as a loop on the school’s visual display system
• as part of a lesson.
