Visual Perceptual Skills Addressed:
Spatial Relationships perception is the ability to identify the position of two or more visual stimuli in relation to oneself and/or in relation to each other.
In the “Semaphore Flag Codes” worksheets, the student must analyse how the arms of each man relate to each other (analyse their position), for example, the one arm is straight up in the air and the other is straight out to the left side.
Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (to locate the important stimulus without getting confused by the background or surrounding images). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.

Visual Discrimination is the ability to identify differences and similarities between two or more visual stimuli by analysing their individual characteristics and distinctive features.

Position in Space
Position in Space perception is the ability to identify the position of any given visual stimulus in relation to oneself.
In the “Semaphore Flag Codes” worksheets, the student must analyse the position of the men's arms in relation to their own body for any codes that are a mirror image of each other, in order to distinguish between them.
