Blurt display behaviour management

Blurt display behaviour management

This display is a great way to get the children in your class to stop calling out. It is a simple display that makes it clear that the only time it is okay to ‘blurt’ out is if there is an emergency or someone is unsafe. The rest of the time, they should put their hands up. My kids love this display and often refer each other to it when they do the wrong thing.

Reflective Learning Tool Versatile and Unique

Reflective Learning Tool Versatile and Unique

The resource preview is presented as a series of samples of permutations of how this self-reflective tool can be used. Full resource on purchase has the mastersheet within it. The ‘Head, Heart …’ tool has been uniquely developed by me as part of my educational practice over the last ten years as a creative consultant and outstanding classroom educator and training deliverer. A generic tool to use during or after any learning sequence for junior students right through the secondary years and any CPD that you deliver or mentoring that you do. It aims to help you and your students understand what they are learning, how they are feeling about their learning, what they would like to change about the learning and what they think will help them in their next or future learning experiences. Based on the whole learner experience, not just who they are in their heads today, the tool helps the teacher get a deeper understanding of who their learners are, how they are responding to learning and the teaching and how they are shaping their learning futures. Enables teachers or trainers to open discussions on emotional well-being, cognition and learning to learn as well as build resilience and manage expectations. Simple for students to engage with and quick to administer either as mini-plenaries or as end of lesson or end of learning sequence plenaries. Potential for building vocabulary to name and separate thinking from feelings and emotions and learn to assert and voice their experience to build increasingly positive experiences in the future. Ways to use the ‘Head, Heart …’ Self-Reflective Tool: • As a basis for ‘voxpops’ • Self-reflective tool • Quick tests of the ‘temperature’ of your teaching for your self-refection • Student voice • Building future learning/career aspirations • Advocacy for the skills used in English and English Literature • Plenaries and mini plenaries • Imagining the experiences of others (empathy work and understanding characters Who and what the tool is suited to: • Suits teachers and learners at KS2, KS3, KS4 and KS5 • Suits evaluation of CPD delivery • Suits anyone in a mentoring role

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Curling Winter Olympics Vocabulary game for Interactive Whiteboard

Tying in with the Winter Olympics 2018, this is a curling game which I have used for MFL lessons (ask differentiated vocabulary and / or conjugation questions to decide who goes first, and whether students can launch a stone / how many stones they are allowed to launch). Points are gathered either by ‘zone’ the stone is touching, e.g. 1 for outer (blue), 2 for outer white, 3 for red and 4 for inner white, or (like the real curling game) you score depending on how close you are to the middle. If the closest stone is red or yellow, that team gets 1 point. If the second closest is the SAME colour, that team gets 2 points. If it is a different colour, the closest team only gets 1 point, etc. Users simply flick the stone from behind one of the two lines (for left- and right-handed players) towards the house and the scores are totalled after all 8 have been thrown.

Classroom Jobs pack

Classroom Jobs pack

A Classroom Jobs pack which can be adapted for younger children or will work perfectly as it is for the majority of Keystage 1 and 2. The pack includes: -An information powerpoint describing in detail all of the class jobs that are on offer for the children to apply for. (It can be quite useful printing the powerpoint out in booklets to allow the children to read them in pairs.) -A job application form which the children can use to apply for the class job they would like to have. A display document which enables you to have a clear list of who is responsible for which job in your classroom. All of the documents can be edited to suit your classroom and your children. I have used them with many different classes and they have worked a treat! Hope it helps!

Behaviour Warning Chart.

Behaviour Warning Chart.

A great behaviour management tool for any classroom in Keystage 2. I currently use this chart with my Year 4 class. I use it to identify the children who are not given warnings and reward those children when we review the chart the following week. If children are given a warning they put a mark by their name and if they continue to make the wrong choices they then put another mark meaning they are on amber and loose 5 minutes of play time. Finally, if children move onto the red column they loose 5 minutes of their golden time. The sanctions for each level can be adapted to different school behaviour polices. This chart changed the behaviour in my classroom as children could see a reward for making the correct choices rather than focusing on the negative things. Hope it helps many like it has me.

Star of the day - Display resource pack.

Star of the day award, currently used in a Year 4 class with previous significant behaviour issues. The pack includes a star of the day certificate for daily use and star of the day display materials to ensure the children know what the reward is for being star of the day. I chose to allow them to sit next to their friend the following day which has changed the behaviours in my class significantly. Hope it helps.
