Dance Music Mash Up KS3 Keyboard Task - Shape of You and many more.

Dance Music Mash Up KS3 Keyboard Task - Shape of You and many more.

Suitable for a pairs task on keyboard in a KS3 Music Classroom. I am currently using music technology with Year 8 music classes to create a piece of club dance music from the ‘breaks’ or ‘hooks’ on the sheet. The have all been transposed into Am so will flow nicely into each other - students could also compose their own chord sequence in Am that these hooks will work with. The sheet contains 2-4 bars of the main hooks from the following songs: 7 Nation Army - White Stripes Shape of You - Ed Sheeran Wake Me Up - Avicii Insomnia - Faithless Lady Gaga - Poker Face King - Years and Years

GCSE Music 9-1 Editable MusicTABOO Cards

GCSE Music 9-1 Editable MusicTABOO Cards

Create an example Taboo-style game for GCSE students based on one of the SetWorks and then give them the template to create their own. Colour coded using the same analysis colour scheme used in all the resources I have developed. Add a bonus reward for the students who can give examples related to the word on their card. Adapt for KS3 or even KS5. Offered here as an editable Word Document. Print double-sided on thin card flipped on the long edge. NB. It looks a little strange in the preview/info but I know the file is fine in Word 2016 and so I’d be interested to hear from anyone who tries downloading whether it works successfully. I hope you like it!

Music GCSE (9-1) Edexcel: AOS 4- Afro Celt 'Release' -Technology

Music GCSE (9-1) Edexcel: AOS 4- Afro Celt 'Release' -Technology

Afro Celt ‘Release’ -Technology -GCSE (9-1) Edexcel Pearson.- NEW 2018 This interative activity requires Logic Pro and an entire lesson to allow for the exploration of the **Music Technology **used in Afro Celt Sound System ‘Release’. Much of the piece is made by looping! The worksheet goes through the process of recreating the introduction of ‘Release’. The introduction starts with a drone that uses two different synth tones, hard-panned L and R. Both synths are being filtered with low pass filters- all these features are covered in this resource. This whole lesson task works really well when modelled and taught as a whole class workshop (students participating in each of the stages of the process). Enjoy and please rate!

Music GCSE (9-1) Edexcel: AOS 2 Vocal Music- Purcell : Ground Bass

Music GCSE (9-1) Edexcel: AOS 2 Vocal Music- Purcell : Ground Bass

Purcell: ‘Music for a While’ -GCSE (9-1) Edexcel Pearson.- NEW 2018 Ground Bass is a structural and harmonic device (also known as basso ostinato), used widely in both instrumental and vocal music in the Baroque era. In this lesson, students will explore the features of Purcell’s 3-bar ground bass in ‘Music for a While’ and apply their knowledge in composing their own ground basses. Objective(s): To understand that ground bass can act as a structural, as well as, a harmonic device in Baroque music. All/Most/Few: All will learn to recognise the features of the 3-bar ground bass in Music for a While, and apply similar features in their own ground bass compositions. Some will be able to create a full-length ground bass with a perfect cadence at the end to be looped. Few will be able to add additional continuo chords. *Differentiation: All students will compose a simple bassline of at least 8 notes. More able students will attempt to elaborate their basslines using shorter note values (quavers), using a mixture of steps and leaps (including some semitone chromaticisms if in a minor key)

Blues Music Unit of Work

Blues Music Unit of Work

This is a unit of work for KS3 all about Blues Music. Note: This uses the same files as my other Blues Unit of Work upload- however it does not contain the tutorial videos and is therefore at a cheaper price! This unit has a practical approach and can be taught in a range of ways. I have done it just using music ICT software and midi keyboards, using live instruments when students work on their own e.g. pianos or live instruments where students work in groups on a range of instruments such as bass, piano, guitar and drums. This teaches some history and context as well as the main techniques of Blues- walking bassline, 12 bar blue chord sequence, improvising using the blues scale. It also has a few lessons on learning The Entertainer which I have found students enjoy learning. Included in this unit is a written scheme of work, 6 powerpoints and worksheets for learning the bassline, 12 bar blues chords, blues scale, So what by Miles Davis and The Entertainer by Scott Joplin.

This is a guide for students (and teachers!) for creating a neat and readable score in Logic. It gives simple instructions with pictures to help you navigate the process more easy. This is especially useful for students who have composed GCSE compositions on Logic, as sometimes if they have composed lots of tracks, the go to score will look very cramped and messy!
