This resource is designed to allow students to show what trey got up to during summer and let you and fellow students get to know them, taking the idea of This Is Me from the Greatest Showman! Guarenteed to get student enagaged and excited to start the new school year… TOPTIP - Play the Greatest Showman Soundtrack in the background of student completing this activity. A great way to start the day and get back into the rhythm of classwork. Students are to complete a Skit-tell-us card. But first you need a pack of Skittles and students are to pick 3 different colours and then answer the question as shown on the first slide. They should do this in the box on their sheet, use as much colour as possible, then they can eat their Skittles. Once students have completed them you can they display them in your classroom… Then you can show us your design and students work via our social media - make sure you tag us (@AllRoundRes) and use our hashtag (#GetYourLearnOn) HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL CREATING! Includes instructions slides; What students need to do and what each colur means. As well as a sheet with indviducal Skit-tell-us cards. If you have any queries, questions or concerns, then please email allroundresources@gmail or alternatively write a comment describing your needs, where I will be happy to help!

The Secret Life of Objects - A Cross-curricular Creative Approach to Teaching and Learning

The Secret Life of Objects - A Cross-curricular Creative Approach to Teaching and Learning

A learning resource for teachers and educators which can be adapted for primary or secondary use and used across the curriculum with great results. This creative strategy has been devised for the Arts and Education Network: South East Wales by Karin Molson, Learning Manager at Monmouthshire Museums Service, Lucy-Ann Pickering, Learning Manager at The Royal Mint Museum, and Mark Batchelder , Learning Officer at The Winding House Museum. This pack aims to provide teachers with the following: – Stimulus to use and incorporate objects regularly into teaching and learning practice – A framework for the analysis of objects in museum and classroom contexts that does not rely on extensive subject knowledge – Creative techniques for critically looking and investigating objects including opportunities for sensory engagement – Bridging techniques to draw out the creative character of objects, either through mind mapping or character profiling – A range of potential creative outputs inspired by objects – A range of strategies/techniques for getting the most out of a museum visit or using objects in the classroom The Secret Life of Objects resource pack contains activity ideas for engaging with objects, an Object Investigation Framework (OIF), exemplars and ideas for creative outputs. The resource uses a simple step-by-step process that will lead you and your pupils from initial object engagement to creative activity.

Bilingual Reflect & Restore Sheets (Eng.and Span.) for all grades

Bilingual Reflect & Restore Sheets (Eng.and Span.) for all grades

These simple reflection sheets can be used to respond to poor behavior in the classroom, especially as a piece of the process in schools practicing Restorative Justice. This product includes versions for Early Childhood, Primary, and Upper Grade students (all in English), along with corresponding versions of each in Spanish. On the left side of the sheet, the offending student reflects on their poor behavior, explains its effects on others, and has an opportunity to offer their perspective on the causes of the incident. On the right side, the student is prompted to write an apology which can contribute to the process of restoration with victim of their behavior. The Early Childhood version has spaces to draw responses instead of writing. The two sides can be cut apart, making it possible for the teacher to keep a record of the incident while the victim is able to keep their apology note. Growth Mindset presentation (Enrichment)

Growth Mindset presentation (Enrichment)

Growth Mindset Enrichment presentation This presentation has 56 slides and contains 14 videos, which are all embedded (EXCEPT THE VIDEO THAT EMBEDS ON SLIDE 55 AS IT MADE THE FILE TOO LARGE, EVEN AFTER COMPRESSING, SO THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN INCLUDED AS A SEPARATE FILE FOR YOU TO RE-EMBED) into the presentation and play full-screen automatically. AIMS Understand what a growth mindset is Understand the plasticity of the brain Encourage students to take ownership of their learning Develop R & I (Resourcefulness and Initiative) Understand and develop grit Push yourself beyond comfort zone to take on new challenges Learn to not fear mistakes, learn from them (Growth Mindset) This power point is suitable for delivery as part of a whole school CPD, department CPD, or, as part of enrichment week, delivered to a whole year group. The presentation lasts between 1 ½ -2 hours, depending on how familiar you are with the Growth Mindset and how much you elaborate on each slide. The presentation contains a section where the students are asked to draw a self-portrait using their current technique, then again under the expert tuition of a YouTube artist, so they can see the instant impact better techniques have. You can see me going over the PowerPoint on my YouTube channel “gcsephysicsexplained”: [Link][https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMapEUiWYrs&t=24s&list=PLjs3KMU7zKeh6TQlEA7csA9knbtiCCAcH&index=3] I follow up the presentation by giving a questionnaire to the students (attached as a download). The presentation gets great feedback, mostly saying how inspired the students feel to take responsibility for their own learning, and how they wish someone had told them about the growth mindset and the plasticity of the brain earlier. Kind regards Matthew Obee

Growth Mindset Display

Growth Mindset Display

The idea of the display is to encourage students to change their vocabulary. The display is firmly based on the work of Carol Dweck and the idea of fixed and growth mindsets. The display is based on famous individuals who had growth mindsets and using their vocabulary to enhance the learning of the students and to encourage them to put in effort and to try. There is also an opportunity for a mistake and success board as seen in the picture as the central theme of the display, this is where you as a teacher can highlight both successful work and good mistakes. The idea being both really good work and work with lots of mistakes make it to the board, and the students see mistakes and successes as one and the same - There is an image attached to show how this works.

Reading Cycle Professional Development Notes

Reading Cycle Professional Development Notes

This product contains the notes from a professional development session that I attended. It deals with teachers being able to ensure that each student is effectively comprehending text during close reads. To be made clear, during close reading sessions, it is possible that instructors may get what is called a “false positive” or indication that a student understands a concept of the text when they actually do not. **False Positive Prevention Method - ** occurs when students are able to write about and discuss a text with some accuracy after gleaning an understanding of a text from what teachers and peers says about the text, NOT from their own understanding about the text. The Reading Cycle Strategy prevents this situation by taking the READ-DISCUSS-WRITE method to the next level through the following steps: Read-Discuss- Read Read-Write-Read Read -Write Discuss Read-Write -Discuss Read-Discuss-Write-Revise Each of these steps are explained within this product. Thanks for your purchase. We appreciate your support!

Individual Lesson Objective booklet

Individual Lesson Objective booklet

This is a professional, well put together booklet for learners to fill out during a lesson. Each session learners are to give themselves an objective and state what they plan to achieve. The booklet has an example, some ideas of what they could write and words they could use. This document gives learners a target as well as stretch and challenge tasks. This booklet will also show progression over 1 to 36 weeks. It is to the point and easy to fill in. I use this for a particular group of Carpentry learners that do not have a training booklet or any other proof of progression. Ideal for OFSTED and observations.

Reward Survey

Reward Survey

►What’s Included?◄ You will receive: -A 2 page reinforcement survey (in PDF format) -A scoring key for teachers including directions for interpreting answers (also in PDF format) ►How to Use◄ Have you noticed that some of your students do not respond to even the coolest, most unique classroom rewards? That’s because what’s reinforcing to some children may not always be reinforcing to others. This is what makes every child unique, and also why a reinforcement survey comes in handy. A reinforcement survey can provide valuable insight regarding what type of rewards and incentives your students prefer by allowing each child to give you direct feedback from their own perspective. These surveys are simple to administer and interpret, but the data it provides is invaluable. Ultimately, a reinforcement survey serves the purpose of assisting you when you need to know what motivates a student, what kind of rewards they prefer, and what they will be likely to work for! This reinforcement survey can be used with your entire class at the beginning of the year in order to get to know your students,’ as well as for the creation of a classwide incentive system. Reinforcement surveys can also be used with specific students who may be exhibiting problem behaviors to determine what a student wants to earn in order to increase appropriate classroom behaviors or develop a behavior plan. Simply have students complete the survey and then interpret their answers using the scoring key provided in this download. ► Terms of Use ◄ This artwork is copyrighted by Roots To Growth.
