That means they all have starters, different learning activities, reading resources (if required) and plenaries. This is a KS3 lesson on plate boundaries however, it can be easily adapted for a GCSE lesson. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The content covered by the lesson are; Convection currents recap, what happens at the four (4) types of plate boundaries, identifying the different plate boundaries on a map, and how are hazards formed at different plate boundaries. 2. Learning resources used in the lesson are; quiz, diagrams, a map task, word bank and a handout, video clips and analysis tasks. Answers for most of the tasks are also included for self assessement. This is an GCSE level lesson on the UK’s landscapes and the factors that influenced their formation. It is suitable for all specification but was prepared with the Edexcel B specs in mind. This is a assessment for a rivers unit at KS3. The test assesses students understanding of the features in the upper, middle and lower courses of the river. It also assesses students understanding of landforms created by the river as well as flood defences used by some rivers. There are 11 questions on the paper and the paper is modeled off the GCSE geography exam papers. The paper uses command words familiar with a GCSE paper. There is also a range of questions in terms of difficulty and skills needed similar to a GCSE paper.

This is a GCSE lesson on the factors driving India’s development. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The lesson explores the site and situation of India and how this has influenced its development as a emerging country. 2. This lesson covers the different strategies used to manage river flooding. It’s suited for the new GCSE specification unit on rivers. However, the lesson is differentiated enough to be taught to a KS3 group. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The lesson starts with an OS map skill activity and finishes with a crossword recapping the main flood defences learnt. There are two main new pieces of learning; one covers strategies that are used to forecast and respond to river flooding and the other covers the main hard and soft defences used as flood defences. 2. The lesson has a range of learning activities suitable to different types of learners; there are photos, map task, analytical tasks as well as lots of opportunities for discussion and debate. 3. The strength of this lesson is it’s differentiation. It was designed for the new GCSE specifications however, it was deliberately differentiated so that it could be used at KS3 to introduce students to the content and skills of GCSE geography. 4. This is a GCSE where the learning is focus on comparing constructive and destructive waves. The lesson will allow students to analyse the different types of waves and how they affect the coast differently. Key facts about the lesson are: 1. The lesson meets the requirements of the new GCSE specifications. However, it can be adapted for a top set year 9 group. 2. The lesson starts by exploring how waves affect the coast using the concepts swash and backwash. There is a great little activity that will allow students to differentiate between swash and backwash. The lesson then moves on to compare constructive and destructive waves. A very straightforward activity is used here; students will be able to access the information easily and the teacher can then focus on writing/exam response techniques here. The lesson will become analytical now where students have to apply the knowledge to three different scenarios. 3. The lesson is differentiated. There are visual aids including diagrams, images and a video clip. There are also challenge activities throughout to stretch students' understanding. There are some clever tasks that are designed to get students to apply their knowledge. This is key to doing well in the new GCSE specifications. 4.
