Introduction to waves

(0)
Teacher lead lesson which can be tailored to be used with student research. Easily delivered to KS3 or KS4. Introduces students to the topics of waves. Describes the motions and uses animated diagrams to show the difference in the direction the energy travels. Animation also included to show how only wave moves but the object does not. Clear examples of labeling wave diagrams including wavelength and amplitude. Followed by practice to test student’s understanding. Word match activity to ensure understanding of key terminology. Answers provided. Plenary is exam style questions for lower and higher tier. Answers provided.

JubblordJubblord

Group 7 - The Halogens

(0)
This lesson introduces the halogens. It gives general information into their naming and uses linked to their properties. Using an animation it shows how the covalent bond is formed to allow the Halogens to be diatomic. Students are then lead through a step by step guide to explaining the reactivity of the Halogens with regards to their electrons and distance from nucleus. Displacement is explained using a simple anecdote. The experiment is provided if you wish to attempt this with your students. After explaining / practical there are equations questions to test the students learning. Plenary is exam style questions.
