Here are the resources I use with my students to learn about the structure of trees (parts of a tree) and the differences between coniferous and deciduous trees. There are opportunities for children to answer questions with a talk partner or as a class to develop their ideas for writing. Included within the lesson starters is a sample of what their writing might look like and a few prompts for the student to use to keep them on track. To aid in starting to identify trees, I’ve included a lesson starter about identifying and describing an oak tree. There is a word bank and worksheet for this task.

These construction cards contain both human and physical features to inspire your pupils. Each cards has a “I can build a …” challenge, a bold image and a further sentence to say the location of the feature.
Set 1: features of the UK
Set 2: features from around the world
Each set has 24 cards included for a total of 48 cards. Each set has 12 human features and 12 physical features. Each card is approximately A5 size.
These are great in a tough spot or construction corner and are perfect to reinforce identifying geographical features for KS1 pupils. Laminate the cards and they can be used year after year.
I’ve also included a sweet little construction area bunting in blue (this is my favourite for my classroom). Each flag is approximately A5 (slightly smaller). Of course you can resize to meet the needs of your area.

The headings have a large space to write under them. I laminate these and then use a white board marker to write and wipe as needed throughout the topic. I reuse them again and again. So once the board is set up it’s very easy to change and add to as often as required.
