Gasland - Fracking Documentary worksheet with answers

I used the first 35 minutes of this documentary to enable my classes to see some of the impacts of fracking in the USA as part of our learning about an example of bridging the gap between fossil fuels and renewables. We go through the correct answers and discuss for 10 minutes. https://watchdocumentaries.com/gasland/ There has been a second docuemtary more recently but this one is easy to understand with core issues at the beginning which makes it easy to deliver.

Using Google sheets, I have created a recall table for each topic. It is RAG themed, and covers the optionals we have chosen but is easy to edit, print and share with students. All they need to do is fill a box with colour when they have tested their recall ability on a section (done some revision) that corresponds with their confidence. Ideally, over time they will see an easy visual presentation of their progress.

Gap fill note-taking worksheet for the documentary about sustainable cities. There are 5 examples from around the world detailing how they re rapidly ‘greening’ their space. There are a couple of short answer questions and a 6 marker at the end, as well as an answer sheet attached.

Designed with the 9-1 specification in mind, this A3 sheet is an outline for conscientious students who could perhaps use it as a check sheet for revision - most expectations are highlighted using an “I can…” sentence starter so that it is easy to understand. I have used key terms like embedding and enhancing rather than assigning numerical grades so as to avoid those awkward questions in summer!

This is just a list of links to supplement learning as a V/A resource or as a pointer for students to watch online during school holidays - maybe even for cover lessons. Make sure the students use it with their case study outlines or at the very least, make a list of bullet points with useful stats and facts for the 9 mar questions.

Can be used to support Level 1 students to encourage them to extend sentences and potentially earn Level two marks. Deforestation, economic development climate change, economic change in the UK, flooding and desertification.

Looking to test your students’ retention, or fulfilment of promises that they are revising their fieldwork information? This is a short set of slides I used to take 20-30 minutes with the whiteboards one lesson before a more in-depth in-class assessment about the topics. I then followed this with a re-iteration of revision styles, time organising files and missed work and tackling any areas of concern on this paper for students. Of course, the dates on the last slide will need to be edited if you wish to use this after 2020!

David Attenborough Climate Change the Facts - worksheet

When used with the David Attenborough documentary on BBC (below), this resource with some discussion could be an excellent overview on climate change with detail enough to support GCSE knowledge well. Certainly a relief from text-based work! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00049b1/climate-change-the-facts
