In the same year as the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United Kingdom, we’re excited to have signed a cooperation agreement with Nguyen Sieu Bilingual School in Hanoi, Vietnam to become their lead provider in supporting the training of local Vietnamese teachers with our International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (iPGCE).

Through our partnership with Nguyen Sieu School, we’ll be supporting returning graduates who have studied in renowned universities in the UK (including Russell Group universities), USA and Australia who wish to pursue a teaching career in Vietnam.

Nguyen Sieu School will become the first international teacher development hub school in Vietnam dedicated to delivering academic excellence and providing Vietnamese teachers with the opportunity to obtain their iPGCE and also their Master's degree in education – via our MA in Education with Pedagogy course – both accredited by the University of East London (UEL).

The signing ceremony demonstrates an important milestone for Nguyen Sieu School reinforcing its reputation for delivering quality education and an effective teacher training model.

As part of the agreement, the school will fund teachers to enrol on the iPGCE course, enabling them to enhance their teaching practice while gaining valuable classroom experience. They will also act as a local reseller for trainee teachers who wish to self-fund and develop their own careers.

In her speech at the signing ceremony, Jo Coles, International Programme Director, Tes Institute, said:

‘Nguyen Sieu School is a prestigious institution that understands the value of contributing to the international education community. Teaching is a profession that invites a commitment to lifelong learning. By undertaking professional courses such as the International Postgraduate Certificate in Education with Tes Institute, these educators are demonstrating their desire to be expert practitioners. The teachers will become leading international educators who will be able to act as mentors for further generations of teachers, both in Vietnam and the wider region.

At Tes Institute, we are also looking forward to having teachers from Vietnam as part of our learning community, undertaking projects that will enable them to apply the most recent developments in education theory and pedagogical approach to their work in school. They will be research-informed practitioners who will contribute to the academic exploration of education at postgraduate level by writing about the impact they have made on the progress of their pupils.

We’re looking forward to these teachers adding their voices and culture to the iPGCE course to shape it in a way that ensures its success for them, Nguyen Sieu School and Tes Institute, both now and over the years to come’.
