This thirteen week (39 lesson) scheme of work is designed to be used at the beginning of the two year Edexcel A Level English Literature course. It begins with an overview of the course then proceeds to an in-depth investigation of the two texts from the Women and Society theme: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Students are prompted to explore and closely analyse the aspects of narrative in both texts. Students will also investigate the biographical, literary, social, historical, and philosophical contexts of both their texts. Students will complete an in-depth investigation of the language, form and structure of both texts using key terminology. After a separate study of Wuthering Heights, students will begin to make and evaluate connections between the two texts. Students are assessed on the novels separately then in together in a mock examination. Due to the limited time frame of the scheme (39 lessons), students will be expected to undertake a lot of work independently. The scheme has detailed links to supporting resources and is accompanied by several PowerPoints and other relevant resources.

Really useful, extremely detailed.
Thank you for this! It is very useful. Are there PowerPoints linked to the scheme of work other than these ones? Your Hamlet ones follow but these do not seem to as much.
