There are 24 Green [easy], 24 Yellow [middle] and 24 Red [tricky] questions. I have laminated them and strung them around the school. It was a little light relief for SATs revision and the children loved it. I have also included the answers. Enjoy!

I am using all these activities in the week running up to SATs to make the most of going outside and to ensure revision is much more fun! My kids absolutely love them, as they don’t even realise they are revising! Hope they are useful to you.
My class loved this! a powerpoint containing 9 maths magic tricks. The children will be amazed! these can be used as wow starts to a lesson, plenaries and even whole lessons as this can lead into further investigation of how these tricks work.
I created this code breaking maths lesson for an Ofsted observation. The children thoroughly enjoyed it and had so much fun (whilst still learning).
The children are told that they have been selected by the local police to solve a crime. Unfortunately, all of the money from the school office has been stolen and an artist impression of the suspects has been provided. The children must crack the secret police codes to elimate the innocent suspects (cross them off) and reveal the final two suspects. Once this has been completed the last clue is placed on the IWB. Children get a reward for helping the police!
I have differentiated the 4 ways questions (HIPPO - the highest, MOUSE - the second highest, HA - third highest, LA - lowest) but they could be adapted to any year group! I have also included the lesson plan and PowerPoint to help clarify the task. Enjoy!
1st answer = MAN
2nd answer = HAT
3rd answer = BEARD
4th answer = GLASSES
5th answer = MOUSTACHE
6th answer = GINER
2 SUSPECTS LEFT = Kenny and Eric
THIEF IS = KENNY
*PLEASE NOTE I HAVE ADDED 2 ADDITIONAL DIFFERENTIATED SHEETS AND A POWERPOINT*
Massive update to my highly popular resource…
Found these really hard to find so made my own resources up.
I am unsure why they are so scarce as they often come up in SAT tests etc.
As I like to call them 'missing box sums’
I have included differentiated worksheets and a smart notebook file to accompany the lesson worksheets.
Great for years 3/4 possibly lower ability year 5.
UPDATE: Feb 2018: due to the popularity of the previous version of this resource I have added a additional content similar in nature, for example, 'the role of the equals sign.'
At this age it is important that children understand (leading onto later years and algebra etc) that ‘Equals’ doesn’t mean ‘the answer’ but is a BALANCE of two equations.
There is a lesson plan included here as well I used for an observation during a Numeracy lesson on the topic.
MATHS PUZZLES USING THE 4 OPERATIONS
this is a fun way for children to practice the 4 operations whist trying to solve a puzzle systematically!

5 Triangular number worksheets. 3 of the worksheets explore the basic principles of triangular numbers and the remaining 2 are investigations designed to apply the knowledge gained. Each worksheet begins with a comprehensive explanation and comes with a mark sheet, making them ideal for a homework task which could be self-marked.
This is a great way to practice and consolidate number bonds in the classroom. These easy prep cards can be used for 4 fun and engaging games that can involve the teacher or allow children time to work in groups or independently.
The games are as follows:
Game 1 – Racing Line
Line up the cards in a row. Row length can vary based on ability. Students race to identify the number bond and get to the end of the line in a speedy time.
Game 2 – Speed Draw
Best played in teams of 2 – 4. One person deals a card out and the first player to call out the answer wins the card. The individual with the most cards at the end wins.
Game 3 – Loopy
Lay out a circle of the cards, this works best with 6 or more cards. Set a one minute timer and see how many times you can go round the loop in the time set.
Game 4 – Flash Friends
Played in groups of 2 – 4. One person flashes up one side of the card. The remaining children in the group either call out the answer or record in on a whiteboard. Points are gained for correct answers.
I also use the cards as flashcards for warm up and recap activities.
As always I welcome any feedback and hope that you enjoy using this resource.
Our Maths Investigation pack contains sixty maths statements to be investigated and is great for the 'using and applying' area of maths and reasoning which is so important to the new National Curriculum
For each statement the children need to explain whether the statement is:
Always true
Sometimes true
Never true
The statements vary in difficulty meaning that everyone in the class can participate. You may want, for example, to have different groups of children working on different investigations. Statements to be investigated include:
Digits in the 9x table add to 9.
Add any four even numbers. Now divide the total by 4. There is no remainder.
On each A4 sheet there are two maths statements and the pack also includes an A4 instruction page with possible extension activities.
Bundle.
decoding vol 1 plus Antonymn sheets.
I have designed 100 worksheets on decoding numbers for the 11+ non verbal reasoning questions. There are 100 worksheets provided on a cd. Decoding is an important aspect of the 11+ exams. Ideal for parents, pupils and tutors. Answer sheets provided. The Decoding worksheet helps to reinforce spelling and problem solving skills for students. The letters of each word are replaced with other letters or numbers based on a pattern. Students must translate the words and spell them correctly. You can see an answer sheet in my picture with the answers in red.
100 sheets where you have to circle the correct antonymn.
Introducing Angela and Antonio - two alligators who will put your students to work as they attempt to work out 'greater than' or 'less than'
May be used to consolidate a lesson taught relating to 'greater than' or 'less than', as homework and even a class test.
5 pages of worksheets and the answers are supplied for ease of marking.
The times table test has been mentioned in the government and we have been using this resource in our school for 10 years and it work effectively to improve children's knowledge of their times tables. It is split into 7 levels. I only allow my children to move up if they correctly answer the Olympic sheet 100% correctly on 3 occasions. We tend to do these sheets on Monday's and Fridays as a 4 minute starter. My TA then marks them quickly using the answer sheets but only for children who have answered all questions. As soon as she reaches the first mistake she stops, which makes marking simple!
In the younger classes we give the children a medal each time they move up a podium.
Under the current National Curriculum, children are supposed to know their times tables up to 12x12, by the end of Year 4. Children will be tested using an on-screen check (on a computer or a tablet), where they will have to answer multiplication questions against the clock. The test will last no longer than 5 minutes, however, children will only have 6 seconds to answer each question in a series of 25.
According to the new National Curriculum 2014 the expectation of times tables in each Year Group is as follows:
Year 2: 2x, 5x, 10x
Year 3: 3x, 4x, 8x
Year 4: 6x, 7x, 9x, 11x, 12x
In this pack I have included all 7 times table challenge sheets and 7 answer sheets. These sheets are now national curriculum ready!. All display resources, as we have made a display of these resources in each of the ks2 classrooms. I have also included my multiplication Olympic tracker which tracks the progress of the children.
There are 4 versions of each sheet to stop children learning the string or order of the numbers. I alternate between these sheets each week.
Please note, unlike the test these sheet also test children on not only multiplication but also the associated division facts too.
Finalist Level – Concentrates on children learning their 2, 5 and 10 times table (Year 2 national curriculum expectations).
Bronze Level - Concentrates on children learning their 3 & 4 times tables (Year 3 National Curriculum expectations).
Silver Level - Concentrates on children learning their 6 & 8 times tables (Year 3 National Curriculum expectations).
Gold Level - Concentrates on children learning their 7 & 9 times table (Year 4 National curriculum expectations).
European Level - Concentrates on children learning their 11, 12 times table Year 4 National curriculum expectations).
Olympic Level - Concentrates on children learning their 12 times table and can recall 100 Year 4 National curriculum expectations).
We use these sheets for homework and our pupils practise as regularly as possibly.
I hope this resource helps with preparing your class!
