These speaking cards are aimed for year 12 and year 13 students, according to the new specifications.
I have been carefully looking at the changes in the speaking test in A-levels and looking at the exam papers given by AQA. Due to the lack of any past exam papers, I have decided to create my own so that students have plenty of resources to be ready for the new A-levels exam.
Set of 11 original stimulus cards to practise with students prior to the speaking exam based on past papers and current news. It includes cards on the following topics:
PowerPoint and PDF format.
Do not forget your feedback. I will appreciate it. Muchas gracias. :)

An introductory PowerPoint to the new (2024) GCSE MFL (Languages) course for AQA for French, German and Spanish.
Great for students (and staff!) for the first lesson.
Includes everything students need to know about the new course - the themes, how each exam paper is made up, and example questions.
Check out my shop for KS4 GCSE German lessons for the brand new course!
**Each suite of lessons (e.g. 1.1G) is £2, and a bundle of three (i.e. the G, F and H sets) is just £5.
See my TES shop here: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/IndieSinger**
This bundle includes 15 lessons that cover Unit 1 (Theme 1) from the Oxford University Press book, which follows the new GCSE curriculum for AQA.
It is aimed at Year 9 or 10, and therefore it includes scaffolding and recap of basic grammar and vocabulary from KS3 that would help students to smoothly transition into KS4.
The first two lessons include an introduction to the new GCSE and revision of key phonics, present tense and opinion phrases.
They are engaging lessons with an emphasis on phonics, vocabulary and grammar, as well as the new exam skills (dictations, reading aloud). They include games and snappy, interactive activities that cover all 4 skills and cultural knowledge. Some of these activities follow the Gianfranco Conti style: sentence builders, jumbled translations, mini whiteboard activities, pair dictations, etc. They include transcripts , worksheets and answers.
Word document containing all the AQA vocabulary for the new GCSE Spanish (starting September 2024). Made using the Oxford University Press lists (sorted by theme, topic and tier e.g. 1.1G / 1.1F / 1.1H). Made as a table for clarity - the last column is empty to allow students to test their spelling. Any typos please shout!
Full lesson to be used when following the New GCSE Spanish Kerboodle. There is enough material for two 1-hour sessions (or probably more).
The lesson includes:
-grammar explanations
-all the answers with animations
-slides with images of key vocab to aid retention (with an option of Foundation and Higher)
-transcripts of the listenings on the slide
an extended dictation task
-a sentence builder
-an interactive plenary and two starters
-all the vocab for this lesson printed on a slide for ease of access
Notice you will need a Kerboodle account in order to access the listening activities.

This sheet is designed to enable ‘live’ marking during speaking mock exams and also to enable quick but detailed feedback to students.
It can also be used for a ‘walking, talking mock’.
I have made the wording of the mark scheme clearer and more concise to render it clearer for students.
Grade boundaries are included so that the sheet is a complete mark scheme.
The grade boundaries are for the Spanish 2018 exam.
The French are as follows:
Foundation 38 /5 34/4 25/3 16/2 7/1
Higher: 53/9 48/8 44/7 38/6 32/5 27/4 (22/3 - no longer used - no grade 3 at Higher)
This is all of the Vocabulary Lists, provided by AQA in their GCSE Specification, translated into English. It has been proof-read by a native speaker but please let me know if there are any mistakes. - UPDATED 21/11/14
This tracker allows you to keep an eye on each of the separate skills in MFL at GCSE for the new AQA specification. I have added a couple of notes on some of the tabs as to how it can be used.
It is work in progress, any feedback on how to improve it would be appreciated!
I’m more than happy to share resources. If you’re happy with them, feel free pressing the coffee link if my resources have helped you.
I have to thank Anne Liese for her support to adapt the Edexcel plans to the AQA specification. Thank you so much!
Tiering
A booklet has been created for both Foundation and Higher tier as there are some elements not assessed in both exams.
Foundation booklet
In the Foundation booklet, I have reminded the pupils of the ‘I can’ statements for their four parts to their writing exam; photo card, 40 words, 90 words and five sentence translation. For each part of these, pupils have their assessment grids with WAGOLL examples and space for them to prepare their own responses. Also, I have chosen different topics for pupils to plan writing questions on.
Higher booklet
In the Higher booklet, again, I have provided the pupils with their ‘I can’ statements for their three parts; 90 words, 150 words and paragraph translation. Similarly to the Foundation booklet, pupil have their assessment grids with WAGOLL examples and space for them to prepare their own responses.
Writing planning
The acronyms P.P.OF and J.O.E are key to our writing planning and they are explained below.
P.P.O.F
Past Present Opinion and Future is one acronym all our pupils in Languages are used to as we encourage all written and spoken communication to contain the four parts. These are also the fundamental four parts that are included in the 90 and 150 words writing tasks. For each part of P.P.O.F I have provided the most essential parts to them and also given pupils a blank version for them to jot anything down to help them remember and add in their own individuality.
J.O.E
Remember to Justify your Opinion with an Example. There is always a need for pupils to elaborate their opinions and we encourage them to use J.O.E. This is very important for the 150 words writing task as pupils need to justify their ideas and opinions.
