I am putting here Activities that I have found made by La Poste. It includes a French teacher pack to guide teacher towards writing a letter and teaching culture. It also has a PowerPoint with the links towards drawing activities to be sent to children in hospitals, recipes in French, a Christmas tale, sleep countdown, folding “une cocotte” with sentences about Chritsmas history and traditions that students can fold and use to present them to other people. Simple, child-friendly language to encourage pupils to evaluate their own learning and for peer review. Slideshow with brief summary of Le Réveillon (New Year’s Eve) to introduce to students, with supporting images. At the end, I have also attached a French tongue-twisters YouTube video, some 1jour1actu games, and a Kahoot, suitable for a fun, end-of-term French lesson for KS2, KS3 or KS4. Le Réveillon is an important cultural French celebration, the day before Christmas (24th December), where gifts are put out, and sometimes even opened, and the day is spent with family, with an evening meal. This slideshow is useful for self-study, teaching others, or perhaps just personal entertainment. The slides are animated so the next line is revealed after each click. The cracker on slide 7 has a big red cross over it to indicate that Christmas Crackers are not common in French culture and cannot easily be bought, unlike the UK, where they are literally everywhere. The information is written in French: it can be verbally translated by the teacher to the students so to expose them to the language despite potential gaps in vocabulary or knowledge, or can be assigned to be translated by the students themselves to develop Festival vocabulary.
