This is one of the documents that I've written to give to our NQTs and Trainees when they join us.

Pupil attainment is dependent upon good quality teaching in the classroom. This resource focuses on different aspects of teaching and has been produced to help your school identify strengths and areas for development in the drive towards quality first teaching and learning. It focuses on formative assessment practices and aspects of great teaching which will have a positive impact on your pupils’ learning and outcomes. It is designed to be flexible and easy to use by both senior leaders and classroom practitioners to develop practice.

KS2 SATs Reading Practice Explain your Answer using Evidence from the Text This Classroom Secrets resource is differentiated in four levels and includes three or four different text types (narrative, letter, diary entry and newspaper report) with a range of explain your answer using evidence from the text questions in the style of the SATs KS2 Reading 2017 Test. The texts (pdf) are differentiated for Year 5 Developing, Year 5 Expected, Year 6 Developing and Year 6 Expected.

Attached are two CPD sessions based around retrieval practice that I used to launch retrieval practice across our school. The first session discusses the theory of memory, based on the principles outlined in ‘Make Learning Stick’ and ‘Why dont students like school?’, including the forgetting curve, the difference between working memory/ long term memory and cognitive load theory. The second session discusses the main principles of retrieval practice based on Rosenshine and recent publications. The session also provides a range of examples of different retrieval activities. I have included the templates for these activities for you to share as well. Both sessions went down extremely well with staff, and helped develop retrieval practice on a whole school level. The resources could easily be adapted for a departmental level and also sharing with older students. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

This 9 slide PowerPoint presentation is the twenty-first in a series of 31 resources to introduce pupils to vocabulary learning and spotting patterns. Pupils must decide whether the word matches with picture number 1 or 2. Click on the one they choose to hear whether they are right or wrong. If pupils are wrong they will hear ‘mala suerte’ (bad luck) and then a description of what the picture really is. If the pupil is right they will hear a praise word and a confirmation that there were right with the item they chose. Audio embedded, notes at bottom of slide.

Heart dissection classes are amongst the hardest and most daunting, partly because its difficult, its new with new tools and most of all because our boys have a terrible habit of lying about how squeamish they really are! This single worksheet and one heart between two students is all you need for a top notch quality learning lesson, no slides required! The worksheet shows a butterfly style heart dissection, so called as the front and back are seperated and if performed correctly resembles a gruesome butterfly, you will have access to each blood vessel, all valves and have a ver identifiable structure you can reference to in workbooks. Tips for best practice -Practice by yourself first! -Show each step by webcam onto the big screen, or even better Discord can stream to multiple ipads/tablets on each desk. -Make it a competion, biggest bloodclot found, best dissection, most features correctly identified etc. -Let them mess it up, but show them their success (oh that incision is in the wrong place, but you just found the Aorta!!!)

In a busy world classroom, the mind is constantly pulled from one idea or happening to the next, scattering thoughts and emotions and leaving students feeling stressed, highly-strung and at times quite anxious. If you have students who need to take a moment of calm in elementary. Primary or kindergarten then these easy, no prep cards will be perfect for your young learners. A short break and moment of calm can allow your students to reset and you may be amazed at how you visibly see them destress! It is essential for our students wellbeing to take a few minutes each day to cultivate mental spaciousness and achieve a positive mind-body balance. These 5 minute in the moment cards take very little effort and can be done pretty much anywhere, at any time when you feel your class needs a moment of calm. Simply stop and settle the students, read the card and allow five minutes for the students to observe and practice. Expand upon the card and allow the students to delve into their thoughts. Alternatively you could allow the students to choose their own card and practice a calm moment. Included in this pack is: 20 x 5 minute in the moment cards 20 x backs for cards when laminated

This SOW was created to meet the COVID safety guidelines whilst we teach Dance in a classroom. The entire SOW is adapted so students are doing practical work at a desk throughout. Our y7 students have loved this BUT could easily be used for other ks3 year groups too! We used the Spinners and Dice available from YPO as resources to accompany this although this could easily work with a home made spinner or coloured sticks etc. This comes complete with a knowledge organiser, DO NOW task sheets and a full Dance Vocabulary Quiz for students to be tested on their knowledge. It also comes with a bingo grid for students to track progress and for teachers to mark. The booklet attached is for Performing arts so only the DANCE section (the first few pages is used)

Phonics practice tests with QR codes. Simply scan with any smart device and practice. Used it in the classroom so children can easily upload the materials and practice. Also useful for parents evening as a handout, so children can practice at home.

La bandera Part 2: Choose any 4 words from part 1 and write a sentence (5 word minimum). Then, draw a picture for each word. Drawings must be classroom appropriate. Conjugate your verbs in the present tense. Post the word count at the end of every sentence. No translators. PAGE 2: Part 3: Same as part 1 but with different words (8 total) Part 4: Same as part 2 Answer key is included on page 5 for parts 1 and 3 (vocab words only). For parts 2 and 4 (sentences), student answers will vary. This practice can be used for classwork, homework, review, added to a quiz / test, or as part of your sub plans. It can also be used with chapter 2B of Realidades 1.

The Next Generation Science and Engineering Standards include 8 Practices which are vital for students to acquire and use as they become active participants in investigating their world. These pennants give a visual representation of the standards and can be used in a variety of ways to remind students (and teachers!) that alongside the content standards, there are practices that guide us to be successful.

Estar and prepositions: Questions with classroom objects (Structured practice) Answer each question in the template provided. Write the subject (the classroom object), conjugation of Estar, a preposition of location from the list below, and its location in relation to another classroom object. Do not repeat any prepositions or objects. *There are 12 questions total. *A table with a list of prepositions with English translations (Ex: Cerca de: near etc) and a list of classroom objects with English translations (Ex: El teclado: key board) is included for reference.
