End of Year Escape Room A fun and educational history escape room, centred around ancient Egypt and the mysterious disappearance of a missing artifact. Work against the clock to solve the mystery before the dawn of the winter solstace, practicing history skills, critical thinking skills, teamwork and much more. By solving a collection of puzzles, your students will be guided from room to room on their quest to find a sacred missing artifact, the lost scroll of Ra. How can you get your students to understand what Victorian poverty actually looked like, and have fun at the same time? Students are given the challenge of surviving a week as a child in a working class Victorian family. To survive, they must spend their money wisely, navigating through a series of choices and decisions. For example, will they choose to go to school, or go out and work? By showing students what Victorian poverty looked (and felt) like, this fun lesson helps their understanding of the context of 19th century literature, particularly Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”! All you need is this powerpoint, and a printer to print off copies of the budgeting table (included on slide!) (An extension activity is included, but this game should last all lesson! Our Christmas poster on traditions has been so popular that we decided it needed an update. We have now divided the topic into two posters. The first poster focuses on traditions like the origins of the Christmas tree and Santa Claus. The second poster focuses on the origins of traditional Christmas foods. We have also produced these posters to our standard specifications. That includes supplying them in seven sizes to match American and International paper sizes. Also changed is the font size. The font used on these posters should be legible if printed in smaller sizes of A4 or 8.5x11 inches. That means they can be given as handouts to students. You can also supply these as digital files for student devices. Just save the A4 file as a PDF.
