Area Surface Area and Volume Math Stations

These area and volume math stations delve into area of irregular shapes, 3d surface area and volume. Students will analyze, create, calculate, explain, and apply the math to real-world situations. The Following Stations are Included: • Polygonal Area: Students will use their higher-order thinking skills to calculate the area of different shaped polygons. • 3d Surface Area and Volume: Students will calculate the surface area and volume of 3-dimensional figures. bull; Applied Surface Area and Volume: Students will solve real-world problems involving surface area and volume. • Dog House Design: Students will design a doghouse that must meet certain surface and volume conditions. Each station should take students 15-20 minutes to complete. This would be a good two-day activity. These math centers are aligned with common core 7.G.B.6 These would also be great to use as homework or assessments. The posters provide definitions and examples of how to find area and perimeter.
