Ks3 lesson focussed on Euro 2016; the lesson is for Spanish but can be easily adapted to any language. Students will work in groups completing 8 different cross-curriculum tasks and preparing starters for other lessons. The aim is to further embed the international dimension for staff and students whilst promoting sports (as a way to a healthier life) and languages (as a way of communication with others that promotes a lifetime of effective communication). This project is a real opportunity to celebrate global culture, to combat racism and to raise awareness that we are all citizens of the World.

A powerpoint with some of the most well known French footballers playing in the French team this summer. This can be used as a display or teaching resource. I print them off, laminate and stick around the school. Sorry that there are 10 rather than 11 but I have gone for the best known and am waiting to see who Didier picks in his starting line up. Hope it's useful.
Typically, France's top scorer wasn't on my powerpoint, so I have now added him! Sorry that this is rather too late, but I thought it might be useful for some who might want to use the slides after the Euros finish.
Thank you for all the kind comments and Allez les bleus!
A maths problem inspired the success of the home nations in the Euro 2016 tournament.
Matched to year 3/4 multiplication targets, but could work in any year group with differing amounts of support.
'FA are creating a UK team, until a new kit has been designed they can train in any combination of the current kits. They can only wear each combination once, how many training sessions can they have before they must purchase a new kit?'
Includes: Sheet of current kits, sheet to record working out by colouring in kits and a sheet with tables to complete.
Enjoy! Please leave feedback!
* As my class found this quite hard I have added resources for a follow up lesson, explaining that I have worked out that for two kits the total combinations is 8. Prompt to see the possible number sentence (2x2x2).
Also other examples for them to write number sentence once they notice the relationship/pattern of multiplying the quantity in each group together.

This sequence of 4 lessons is based around students using probability to simulate the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament using dice. I have included an 'instructions' document explaining as well as I can how each lesson should go, but it is advisable to go through this as a faculty first and play it yourselves! If you have any questions or corrections that I need to make then please contact me.
Please note that the lessons are heavily based on the work of TES uploader 'dannytheref', who created a similar set of resources for the World Cup 2014 (https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/fifa-world-cup-2014-simulation-activity-6424677). There is also a similar activity on nRich (https://nrich.maths.org/1184). I also need to credit www.excely.com for the creation of the superb spreadsheet used within.

I wanted to take advantage of the excitement around Euro 2016 to help with learning in school. I therefore created this presentation and activity to combine lots of different school elements with Euro 2016, with particular focus on British Values, but also including elements of Geography, PSHCE and SMSC. This presentation works ideally has a whole morning set of activities for KS2. But it can be easily adapted for work in KS1 or KS3. It can also easily be adapted for an assembly.
Within the presentation, there is...
- An overview of what Euro 2016 is
- Challenges relating to World Continents and European Countries
- An overview of the difference between The British Isles, Britain, Great Britain and The UK
- Who qualified for the tournament from the British Isles and from the whole of Europe
- A build up to the England vs Wales match (This can be taken out if delivered after the match)
- An activity about the 5 key British Values (PowerPoint linked to Separate Activity)
- A selection of carefully chosen pictures to prompt discussion around British Values
- Links to more useful websites for activities on Euro 2016 and British Values
Enjoy!!
details of the population, size, religion, capital, life expectancy for men and women, highest and lowest points and number of bordering countries for each of the 24 finalists.
