All of the instructions and resources you need to have a great time getting to know your pupils are in this Power Point . I use these for 'Family Friday' in form time to build a sense of family and community amongst my Y8 registration group. However, these games are fun for all ages - even adults! The games are a mixture of whole class, group, pair and individual activities. This resource pack contains everything you need to help break the ice with your students. This would be ideal for any new class whether they are just new to you or even new to each other! Although it is great for the start of the academic year, many of us deal with casual admissions and students who join late in the year. These resources will be great for helping you get to know them better and for them to integrate into the group. What a fun activity for children to complete. Using mirrors, children can draw a selfie on the phone. This is a super tool to get to know your students, along with assessing their fine motor control and understanding of pictures. This can be used to encourage children to talk about themselves.

This is a back to school/New school year activity to promote talk and collaboration. The aim is that students go around and talk to other members of the class in order to find someone to fit each category. There are 2 differentiated versions - both editable.

A full day’s resources for the first day back, including informal assessment opportunities for writing, maths, speaking and reading: Morning starter (while children are registered): grammar, using an image to write sentences and identify word classes; Golden rules children decide as a class the rules for the year; Recount of holiday: writing assessment task; Maths treasure hunt which requires a little prep to hide all the tasks about the classroom/playground! Selfie biography task children get the chance to set goals and write about themselves. Reading task perhaps to precede a quiet reading time at the end of the day.

This lesson is ideal for a new Year 7 class, or a new low-ability class. It is a great way for pupils to get to know you better, and for you to get to know them! The PowerPoint guides pupils through a fun activity where they draw objects and explain why they are relevant to them.
