HIGH FREQUENCY WORD BOOKS This is a simple reading scheme which supports the teaching and reinforcement of high frequency words. There are sixty-eight picture books covering the first fifty-five high frequency words. The High Frequency Word Books provide essential repetition and daily practice. The books are aimed at emergent readers (4-6 years old). • Kittby Books are easy to follow. Start at Red Book 1 and by the end of Blue Book 24 the first fifty-five high frequency words will have been practised. • The new word is written on the front cover of each book and it is recommended that children learn the new word BEFORE reading the book. •New words are gradually introduced - one or two words per book - and high quality pictures are substituted for all other words - ensuring that the reader focuses exclusively on fluency and reading the high frequency words in context. • The books are grouped in sets of eight.
