Year 6 Leavers' Production - Once Upon a Time

(0)
A Year 6 leavers' production based on famous children's books. The play starts with a child reading Wimpy Kid on their last day of Year 6. Each book then comes to life with characters from the story acting out relevant scenes to the the children's time at school. The characters cleverly weave together throughout the play (in the style similar to Charlie Cook's Favourite Book) and then at the end there is a link to the children's Leavers' Book which allows for memories. Books included are Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Matilda, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Demon Headmaster, Roald Dahl's Little Red Riding Hood and Funny Bones. Lots of opportunities for singing and dancing and humour.

**This resource is designed to be used during Reading Workshop and is to be used with Once Upon a Time: A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell. The pack has been designed in alignment with the 2014 National Curriculum of England’s reading objectives for Year 6. ** ABOUT THE NOVEL: What if the sleeping beauty never woke up?Once Upon a Dream marks the second book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. It should be simple–a dragon defeated, a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden’s, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over. With a desperate fairy’s last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape–created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn’t alone–a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent’s agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are and, moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up? **ABOUT THE RESOURCE: **This pack includes: Chapter Summaries, Comprehension Questions, Digging Deeper Opportunities (includes character studies and plot studies), Creative Writing Tasks, and Non-Fiction Tasks related to content of the novel (mud dauber wasp, feathers, dungeons, bluebird, medieval armour, foxes). Resource is provided as a PDF but a digital copy of the pack is available for editing and sharing on Google Classroom and Seesaw available with download.

ONCE UPON A STAR - PRODUCTION - Ages 11 to 14

During the last ten years, I have written eight of the Year 6 Leavers’ Productions in our junior school… ONCE UPON A STAR was the first, and has remained amongst the most popular amongst all ages - the young and the not-so-young. All the productions I write are comedies. Year 6 must love puting them on, and every audience of all ages must be laughing out loud at least every two minutes. YOU not only get the script, but you get EVERYTHING you need to put on the show. For example, in the script, every time you need the backing, song, or sound effect, you click the link that takes you straight to youtube and there it is. You are also guided how to trim any of these - free, offline, and in seconds. You also have: Production Notes - Sound Track - Props - Cast description and list - Action Scene by Scene - Song Book. You also have permission, from me, to make any amendments and changes that suit you. ONCE UPON A STAR allows you to add any number of characters. We have performed ONCE UPON A STAR with between 70 and 80 players taking part. You may also amend and change anything you like. I’m pricing ONCE UPON A STAR at £5. For this you get everything you need in a production that has proved great to stage, present, and give the audiences of all ages a mega fun time. Here are some of the characters in the story: Winifred, Wicked Witch of the West Tweedle; Twaddle, Twiddle – apprentice witches; Goblins galore; fairies galore; Seven Dwarves; Snow White; Spud, half-boy or girl/half-cat; Grizelda, the Wicked Witch of the East; the Fairy Queen; The Chorus of the Forest (any number). In the next few weeks, I will be adding my other productions, so keep an eye on my shop … where you’ll also find lots and lots of stuff that might interest you. And a lot of it is free. All the best to you and yours for a successful 2023 and beyond. J-PC

Pokemon times table tests

Based upon a resource created by celledore where students battle against different superheroes, in this resource children learn a times table and then have to answer different questions to beat Pokemon characters. Hopefully this will hook children into learning their tables due to the popularity of Pokemon at the moment. Included is also a practise book that helps guide them on their journey to becoming a Pokemon maths master as well as certificates and the tests themselves. Once again thanks to Celledore for the initial inspiration.
