This ready-to-use PowerPoint is a full poetry comparison lesson for the Eduqas 2027 GCSE English Literature specification. Focusing on War Photographer and Disabled, it helps students write structured, high-level comparative essays on war poetry - ideal for Year 9 or early GCSE preparation for the new specification. The lesson includes a scaffolded essay structure, guided analysis of context, structure, and language, and a model essay task with colour-coded highlighting. Activities support retrieval, annotations of the model essay and a sheet at the end to facilitate peer assessment. The model response is also included in the PowerPoint. I created this because there are so few resources available for the new Eduqas anthology. This lesson can easily be adapted for other poems in the collection or for comparing unseen war poetry. Fully editable and classroom-tested, it’s designed to build comparison skills and analytical confidence.
