Topic 2: Healthy living and lifestyle. Cards 2A and 2B.
Topic 3: Education and work. Cards 3A and 3B.
Topic 4: Free time activities. Cards 4A and 4B.
Topic 5: Customs, festivals and celebrations. Cards 5A and 5B.
Topic 6: Celebrity culture. Cards 6A and 6B.
Topic 7: Travel and tourism, including places of interest.Cards 7A and 7B.

The cards above have been adapted to pair work in the classroom worksheets, whether this is teacher-led practice or cover work.

Students can work in pairs but each of them will be provided a Card A or Card B worksheet in which their own work is to be completed.

The instructions of each copy are clear as to who will perform which tasks.

  • In part 1, when student A is expected to read aloud (exercise 1a), it is clear to student B that their job is listening to student A and writing down what they hear (dictation), check for spelling mistakes and then swap (1b).
  • In part 2 both students will work independently on writing down well-developed answers with guidance taken from the AQA mark scheme.
  • Finally, in part 3 student A will read aloud and then answer the four questions that they prepared in part 2 whilst student B will act as a teacher examiner. After time is up, students will swap roles.

If set up as cover work, Part 4 could be added: Student A and Student B could swap cards and start again.
