Tick the Art Box has a new name and an expanded focus to writing and literacy resources, in addition to Visual Arts. I create engaging, adaptable resources, focused on learners and learning, supporting the development of skills, confidence and creativity in students and teachers. My resources range from short activities to fully developed lesson plans and resource kits including formative and summative assessment options, and incorporating Learning Intentions and Success Criteria.

Designed for use in Creative Arts (Visual Arts) , this poster encourages students to self-monitor their learning with attention to the Success Criteria and design requirements of their task, use of media and attention to detail, creative efforts, completion of tasks in a timely manner and general co-operation in the class setting. It can also be a useful resource to have on hand during a three-way conference (parent-student-teacher).
Please spend some time ‘unpacking’ the rubric with your students to clarify your expectations and theirs. For example, your understanding of ‘Craftsmanship’, is probably different to the students’ initial understanding - usually ‘colouring in between the lines’. It may not mean keeping to the ‘lines’ at all - without artistic innovators we would have no Picasso! When are the ‘lines’ (rules) are important? Enjoy those conversations with your student artists!

To further encourage your students to take ownership of their learning through self and peer assessment I recommend the T.A.L.K and L.E.A.R.N process
T.A.L.K and L.E.A.R.N posters and printable mnemonic bookmarks are available as a value bundle.

To develop an effective and manageable formative and summative assessment strategy, with assessment FOR, AS and OF learning, the
ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING bundle provides resources for creative teachers to support their students and keep assessment records on track.

This is a very practical rubric which can be used for peer and self assessment and a great way for students to set themselves realistic goals. Thank you for sharing this useful resource! Best wishes

Covers everything to involve students in taking responsibility. Planning to bring it out for three-way conferences (student-parent-teacher)
